Goose, an unfortunate hound dog, has endured numerous upheavals in his life.

Having experienced homelessness on three separate occasions, he eventually found refuge at the Adopt an Angel shelter. What sets Goose apart is his unique honking cries, reminiscent of a goose, rather than traditional barks or whines.

Describing Goose’s distinct vocalizations, Adopt An ANGEL director Jill Jones shared, “He’s got a hound bark that could seriously win contests. He screams when he feels anxious and abandoned. If he’s quiet, it’s because he’s happy.”

Goose first arrived at Adopt an Angel as an injured puppy, emitting his signature honks and howls upon being separated from his mother.

Tragically, his own mother bit off one of his ears during a feeding, leaving him with a striking appearance. His adoption ad humorously acknowledges, “I have a real unique look to me, don’t you think?”

Although Goose was eventually adopted by a family, unfortunate circumstances led to his return as an adult.

Clashes with the family’s other dog and the birth of a baby with a rare skin disorder necessitated his departure. The ad expressing his family’s love and devastation read, “I was loved, and my family was devastated to give me up.”

However, fate would intervene once again as he was adopted by a young couple. Sadly, their marriage ended in divorce, and Goose found himself back at the shelter, emitting even louder honks and howls.

Determined to find Goose a permanent, loving home, the staff at Adopt an Angel showcased him at an adoption fair.

Miraculously, a friend of Goose’s previous owner attended the event and recognized him by his distinctive missing ear. Overjoyed, the friend immediately contacted Goose’s dad, who had no idea his beloved pet was in the shelter.

Goose’s dad, unable to take him in personally, felt an immense responsibility to secure a good home for him. As Jones recounted, “He was like, ‘Let me figure this out so that I can get Goose out of the shelter and bring him back.'”

A few days later, Goose’s dad drove all the way from Florida to North Carolina to retrieve him.

Astonishingly, upon reuniting with his dad, Goose remained remarkably quiet, as if understanding that his beloved family was present, eliminating the need for his earlier screams. Their heartwarming reunion was captured on video, and Goose embarked on the journey back to Florida, settling into his new home at his dad’s grandpa’s house.

Now, Goose leads a blissful life, relishing playtime in his fenced-in yard and enjoying the company of his canine cousins. After enduring so much hardship, we are thrilled that Goose has found a safe and loving place to call home—a truly joyous ending to his tumultuous journey.
