82-year-old grandmother cuts a rug and busts out classic Charleston moves

Everybody hates talking about their age or let alone aging. None of us would like to admit it but there is no escaping growing old. Go ahead and try making a conversation about age and you will get all sorts of reactions. When we’re at our peak, we may be strong, healthy, and agile. Before we realize it, the days and years have piled up leaving us to wonder where these odd aches and pains are coming from.

There is a growing movement, however, of aging gracefully. It has started to become more popular, both for men and women, to be of age and still be attractive.

Thank celebrities such as George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez, Johnny Depp, Cindy Crawford, and many others for that.

We are all wondering how we will be like when we reach our senior years. We’re taking inspiration from this grandma.

This very active woman is already 82 years old!

It doesn’t matter if she was a dancer when she was younger or not. Most elderly men and women will give anything to be able to do what she does in this video.

Dancing the Charleston is this 82-year-old woman. Even for younger people, this is not an easy feat.

The Charleston originated from African-American communities living on an island off the coast of Charleston South Carolina. It’s earliest origins go back to Central Africa.

In the 1920s, women were beginning to want to break free from social restraints, including the wearing of corsets and being told to behave a certain way. This dance was a perfect way to demonstrate that. It had a rebellious streak to it. They could strut and kick all they want without a care if their skirts flew up with their legs. They were called the Flappers.

At grandma’s very young and carefree age of 82, she still has got her legs. She has an impressive posture. Standing straight with a huge smile on her face, she defies the stigma commonly associated with elderly people.

She doesn’t need any bar or club. Her kitchen works fine.

She gives everyone a peek at the roaring 20s. Back to when men and women got rid of strict conservative ways, paving the way to new clothing styles, manners of expression, and attitudes.

Women cut their hair short and wore their skirts even shorter. Everyone drank and smoked, and dancing became uninhibited.

She is having so much fun!

She kicks really high, not very easy even for younger dancers. She is looking good in her black dress and expensive-looking necklaces.

Her heart sure is in good shape. She spends a good couple of minutes kicking, spinning and striking a pose for the camera. She just goes left, right, back and to the side sides with her arms swinging along to her movements. She can still cut a rug!

This old lady is full of spirit. We can only hope to be as strong as her when we get to her age.
