Girl escapes to grandpas backyard everyday where he built an elaborate theme park just for her

If you’re lucky enough to have your grandparents around, you know just how great it is to have people who will always go out of their way for you (and hardly ever get annoyed, unlike your parents).

Jimmy White of Decatur, Texas is a pretty special grandpa – and one who never has to worry about not seeing his granddaughter Sophia enough.

For starters, the little girl lives right next door. But the allure of going to grandpa’s is partly in the amazing place to play he’s built for her in his own backyard. A Six Flags of sorts, but one she’ll never have to wait in line to get into.

This generous man thought of the idea the very same day he found out his daughter was pregnant. (And you thought your parents were excited to get a grandkid!)

White says of his sweet (and lucky!) granddaughter:

“Any time she wants something I’m gonna try to give it to her.”

It sounds like a recipe for a spoiled child, but it’s clearly coming from a heart so full of love that White is committed to making her the happiest girl on Earth.

And, frankly, he’s not afraid to spoil Sophia because “that’s what grandkids are for.”

The little girl is likely to grow up adventurous for having her own personal Ferris wheel, carnival swing, and even roller coaster. White’s homemade theme part is one seriously impressive set-up!

The entire “park” is built from scrap parts, and White – being a very handy man – has made it all safe and sturdy and is very careful to make sure Sophia remembers to buckle her seatbelt on every ride.

In the video below, you can see the intricate one-person roller coaster the tyke gets to ride. It’s not automated, but rather requires “grandpa power” to push her up the first incline. From there, gravity takes over and the little girl goes whirling around the tracks, squealing with delight.

Of course, this means Sophia always has adult supervision when playing at her theme park.

And while she’s just a few years old, every ride is meant to grow with her and will be updated to keep it interesting. Over time, White plans to add more attractions as well. Next on his list are some go-karts.

So far the plan to keep his granddaughter interested in seeing him is working out pretty well since Sophia wants to come over nearly every day.

But White also hoped that the park would allow him to recreate the very special bond that he had with his own grandfather, a man he misses dearly. He even teared up a bit while recalling those memories as well as recognizing that he won’t be around forever either.

“That’s what I’m trying to do with my granddaughter. Because after I pass away and am gone, I want her to look back on all the times – the good times – that we had.”

Of course, White knows that as Sophia gets older, she will outgrow the theme park. And while it’s built to accommodate even adults, he understands that outgrowing is also an emotional process.

Of course, we have the feeling that it’s the love and commitment of her grandfather that will keep her coming back long after the roller coaster no longer amuses her.

When the clip was aired in April of 2017, Sophia was about to turn just 3 years old, so it’s safe to say that her park is still providing thrills as well as the company of a man who loves her with all his heart.
