There is something about being behind the wheel of a car that just seems to make many people so much worse. Drivers suffering from “road rage” are less considerate of others, rude, and often in need of some good, solid, comeuppance.

When a less-than-considerate driver honked at an elderly woman crossing the street, she decided to get a little revenge on him – and the results were hilarious.

It seemed like a nice, normal day.

The video begins with some skateboarders filming themselves doing tricks. Then the loud squealing of tires can be heard off-camera. When the camera spins around to a nearby crosswalk, a rather interesting scene is unfolding.

Stopped at the crosswalk is a man in a fancy little silver convertible.

Without making any broad generalizations, this guy seems like the type to have loud and aggressive cell phone conversations in public places. He might not be “that guy” but you know, he probably is. Also stopped at the crosswalk is an elderly woman who appears to be waiting for it to be safe to cross.

The driver has no patience for the woman crossing the street.

Evidently, the man in the convertible does not respect his elders. He doesn’t appear to care that the senior members of our society are often not able to move quite as quickly as he would like them to. The man doesn’t care about any of those things, he just wants to get on his way and that is all that matters to him.

So, the inpatient man honks at the woman.

He honks at her as she crosses the street as fast as she can.

But all of a sudden, she stops dead in her tracks.

Here is this woman, just trying to go about her day and some inconsiderate driver has to blare his horn in her ear just because she can’t walk as fast as he’d like. It would probably be best in this situation to just walk away but the woman did something rather hilarious instead.

She starts bashing the man’s car with her oversized purse and bags.

She probably just wanted to make some gesture that would get him to stop honking but something more than that happened.

The man’s airbags are deployed.

The impact of the woman’s bags hitting the front of the car was enough to set off the man’s airbags. The bag coming out from his steering wheel and into his face will likely teach him something about having patience, we hope, anyway.

Numerous people who have seen the video felt compelled to leave a comment.

“Every time I watch this video clip it always puts a smile on my face. Love it!!!!! I would take this woman to lunch…..” one viewer wrote.

“Haha! That jerk got exactly what he deserved! He probably thinks twice about honking at pedestrians now!” wrote another.

What causes road rage?

So, what is it exactly that makes someone behind the wheel of a car so inconsiderate that they feel it is okay to honk at elderly people crossing the street?

The American Psychological Association notes that road rage is most often to occur in young males, as most vehicle-related negative things are. They also noted some other factors which can cause road rage.

“Certain psychological factors, including displaced anger and high life stress, are also linked to road rage. In addition, studies have found that people who experience road rage are more likely to misuse alcohol and drugs.”
