Great Dane attacks intruder when elderly owner is in trouble
Every day, we do our best to secure our home. We make sure that our doors are locked, and that our security system is running.
It is our worst nightmare to have someone break into our home.
The harsh reality is, it happens more than we know, and more than we expect. It is also a fact that break-ins don’t just happen at night or when no one is at home. It can happen even when the whole family is present, and it can happen at any time of the day.
Admit it or not, most of us feel secure and safe during day time. Sometimes, we even feel confident leaving our doors unlocked throughout the day, thinking no one would dare to come inside our home in broad daylight.
But one woman can attest that crimes happen anywhere and at any time.
Tracy McCoy was enjoying her relaxation time with her two dogs and her son at home. It was a beautiful sunny afternoon, the sun was bright, the air was warm, and her neighborhood was peaceful- or so she thought.
She was so confident that she didn’t bother locking her door. Besides, who would dare, right? They know she has a Great Dane inside.
Then, she heard an unfamiliar noise from the doorway.
Again, she shrugged it off. She thought that maybe it was just her older son. The sun was so bright, and there are even people passing by, who would break-in at this time of the day?
Little did she know- a stranger was already inside her home.
Her home CCTV showed that a strange man opened the door and came in uninvited. He looked rugged, and he was holding what seemed to be a large trash bag.
Dubai, a 122-pound Great Dane, immediately went to the door- and there, he greeted the man.
However, the man was not at all shaken, nor did he leave the house. Instead, he remained calm, and he even stopped to talk to Dubai. He even scratched him for a few moments!
Despite their size, Great Danes are considered gentle giants, and the stranger seems to know how to talk to dogs. Feeling confident, he started walking again- until he came face to face with Tracy.
Tracy was shocked to see the intruder, and then she screamed!
Tracy was with her blind son at home, and she’s now staring face to face at this intruder! What’s scarier is that he’s already inside her house.
All she could do was to gather all her strength and scream as loud as she could!
At this point, her Great Dane knew that this man wasn’t welcome.
Seeing Tracy’s reaction, Dubai’s instincts kicked in. This man was an intruder, and he needs to protect his family. Even Tracy’s smaller dog started acting fiercely to the man!
Dubai quickly lunged at the man- and didn’t hesitate to bite the intruder on the backside.
“He immediately did an about-face and started after the gentleman. He escorted him out by the rear end with his teeth,” – Tracy McCoy shared with WSLS 10.
Tracy just screamed and screamed.
Dubai didn’t leave the stranger alone until he was outside. Tracy then grabbed the door and tried to lock it while she’s holding her phone to call the police.
Good thing that the police were able to respond quickly.
They were able to catch the guy and they brought him back to Tracy McCoy’s home to have her identify him.
Facing an intruder in your home will make you realize just how dangerous this world is. You’re not only at risk of losing everything that you’ve earned. You’re also endangering yourself and your loved ones.
Tracy’s story was an eye-opener to many of us. It just proves that we should always prioritize our security – even in broad daylight. Never be too confident when it’s about your safety.
Always make it a habit to double-check your locks, your security systems, and even your CCTV’s. If you’re not sure about it, take time and make sure that everything is working well.
Not every one of us is as lucky as Tracy. Not every one of us has a Dubai to protect us.
Tracy shared her story so that everyone can learn from her experience. We’re also so proud of Dubai and Tracy’s other dog for protecting their family.
