Great Dane has hilarious ‘comeback’ when owner says he's not allowed to swim
When the height of summer hits and it is sweltering with heat outside, there are very few ways to cool off.
Sitting in the shade, an icy beverage, or running through a sprinkler are just a few ways.
Another way to cool off, if you’re lucky enough to have one, is to jump in the pool.
That is exactly what one big dog wanted to do but unfortunately, was told he wasn’t allowed to.
Max the Great Dane had recently had to get some stitched on his front arm and was wearing a protective jacket to deter him from licking at the area.
Even with his jacket on, Max was adamant about wanting to go for a swim.
His mom though, would not let him in until he was all healed up and his jacket was off.
But that didn’t stop this precocious pup from throwing a little temper tantrum about the refusal.
Great Danes are very smart dogs who have lots of energy and are pretty easily trainable.
One thing that you would think might stand in the way of Max’s trainability, however, is the fact that he is actually deaf.
That’s not the case though, Max picked up sign language commands very quickly, and his owners even think he can read lips.
That’s how, without being able to hear his owner say no, he knew he wasn’t allowed in the pool.
That didn’t stop him from complaining about it though, and loudly at that.
Max threw a little tantrum right beside the stairs leading into the pool.
He kept making his way closer and closer to the edge, all while wailing at his mom that he wanted to go in.
A few times, he even tried lifting one of his paws up to dunk it in the water, but his training kicked in and he sadly put his paw back down.
He finally relented and backed away from the pool, removing himself from the temptation.
Luckily for him though, his stitches would heal quickly and he would soon be able to go swimming again.
What might have been even harder for the big dog, was that his siblings, 3 other Great Danes, didn’t have stitches and were allowed to swim.
His parents knew that would be unfair though, and so, for a while, none of the pups were allowed in the pool.
When he was finally allowed back into the cool waters, Max was ecstatic.
He waited patiently while his owners strapped all 4 dogs into their life jackets, and then together, they rushed forward and jumped into the water.
The pups splashed and played for hours, occasionally moving to the side to take a rest, but never fully exiting the pool.
Now, every day is spent swimming and lounging in the cool waters of the pool, and Max is as happy as can be.
