Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban's newest duet sounds like it's straight from heaven

For many, Josh Groban was the baby-faced guest star on the hit show Ally McBeal in 2001 who busted out some shockingly mature vocals to become a pop culture icon.
After looking him up, many of us found out he was simply a music school student who got his shot when he was asked to rehearse a duet with Celine Dion for the Grammys after the original singer couldnât make it in 1998.
He then appeared on Rosie OâDonnellâs talk show after she hosted the Grammys that year and heard his voice.

Since then, Groban has become a star in his own right, selling over 25 million albums.
But it all began for him during that rehearsal â and the singer he stood in for was the legendary Andrea Bocelli, who would go on to perform âThe Prayerâ flawlessly with Dion days later.
Groban explained the moment that shot him to stardom in a 2018 Facebook post:
âI owe so much to an early opportunity I had, I was 17 and in high school and asked to be a stand in singer for Andrea Bocelli when he was stuck on a plane for the Grammys rehearsals. (Longer story how THAT even happened). A terrified, pimple faced and blissfully naive kid sang his heart out that afternoon and the rest is history. Meeting him backstage when he finally arrived I just thought âhow cool is this? What a world this is.â He went on to do the telecast and I went back to history class at LACHSA (who were so understanding and supportive). I didnât have an inkling where my life would take me after that. The bridges left to cross.â
Well, the duo has now crossed that bridge. They came together once again in 2018 to sing their own duet.
Groban continued:
âThis song, aptly titled We Will Meet Once Again, is one of my favorites Iâve ever co-written and recorded. It has so much meaning to me.â

The track appears on albums by both artists â Andrea Bocelliâs SĂŹ and Grobanâs Bridges, both released in 2018.
And last month, the pair released a video for the song as well â and it has already been seen already by over half a million YouTube viewers. It shows them preparing for and partaking in their first public performance of the duet in the town of Porto Venere, Italy.
While it begins with preparation shots and B-roll footage in black and white, the town lights up with color over a minute into the video.

When the two are shown on stage, theyâre dressed head-to-toe (as is the orchestra) in white.

Two dramatic voices captivated both the live audience at the time as well as online fans who have heard it over the last year on either of the two albums.

YouTubers canât get enough of their performance. And if thereâs anything to be learned from their comments, itâs that they wonât tolerate disagreement:
âWhoever dislikes this song, has no heart for music,â insisted one fan.
Fans had been waiting quite some time to hear the two sing together and they were anything but disappointed:
âThis is what serenity sounds like. Perfect balance. No one out doing the otherâŚ,â gushed another fan.
And while their latest duet is truly something to behold, letâs not forget the pair also performed âThe Prayerâ together at the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008!
