Starting a new life with someone is a big thing. It’s time to start thinking of finding a home and raising a family.

This groom had the right idea when he got something to start them off with.

But his soon-to-be wife had no clue.

Jeff Althoff here is marrying the love of his life, Jenna.

He’s already got a wedding gift planned for Jenna. I don’t think the idea of a gift itself is going to surprise Jenna – it’s what the gift is.

Jeff takes the time to tell his friends the plan but explains that he can’t spill all the beans yet.

But it’s a very adorable plan, let’s just say.

On his first day as a husband, Jeff already wants to start learning how to be a father. This isn’t a bad idea. Getting that early-on mental and emotional preparation can help tremendously.

Problem is, the kid won’t show up right away, no matter how early you started getting ready. That won’t happen for another 9 months at the very least.

However, Jeff isn’t thinking of that kind of baby. At least, not now.

Perhaps the urge to care for someone was too strong between him and Jenna. He just couldn’t resist and had to find a special new family member some other way.

Well, he definitely succeeded. The catch is that he’s the only one who knows.

He teased the plan to his groomsmen. Jeff then told them :

“She’s not going to know until she sees this video later on. Are you guys ready to know it? Well you can’t yet!” – Jeff teased

There’s nothing worse than having someone tease you a secret and not tell you. Come on, Jeff. Imagine how impatient you made them.

Well, good things do come to those who wait. It was only a day they had to wait anyway. When the reception came, they could finally hear it.

So it’s time to get Jenna ready for the surprise. It’s for her, after all.

Jeff had better get his confidence on. He’s breaking some big news to his new wife in front of all their friends and family! You’d better make this worth the wait, Jeff.

“I’ve heard a few rumbles and a few jokes about it along the way. But Jenna I decided to give you a wedding gift that was completely for you. No, it’s not hunting or fishing related.” – Jeff begins his speech.

It’s completely for her, he emphasizes.

Jenna has the biggest smile waiting for Jeff to reveal what it is. She can’t even muster a response thanks to her excitement.

“It’s everything that you want. Would you agree with me that the last few hours have been the best hours of your life as a family of two?”

Specifying that you’re a family of two, eh? I think Jenna is starting to get the idea.

Now Jeff can take that anticipation off everyone’s shoulders and tell them what he meant. Jenna is the most excited, judging from how she’s looking at Jeff.

Say what you want, but Jeff knows how to build up a surprise.

“Well I am proud to announce that we have now become a family of three.”

And coming out to greet Jenna is the surprise. It’s a puppy!

Okay, this was definitely worth the build-up from Jeff. You can’t ever go wrong with a loving, protective family member.

Jenna and Jeff are going to have a splendid household with their furry child.

Jenna is ecstatic and immediately cradles the dog with all the love.

Wouldn’t you do the same?

When they have another baby (like, a human one), their dog is going to have a blast. It’ll also give them a much-needed warm-up if they ever decide to become actual parents.

Learning how to co-parent a dog won’t teach you everything about parenting, but it’s at least a good practice in responsibility and sacrifice. That, and they’re adorable and light up the household.
