Matt is a truck driver who might look tough but he’s really a sweet guy with a heart of gold.

A few years ago, as he was driving, he noticed something weird in the middle of the road. He knew it must have been an animal, but had no idea if it was dead or alive. What he knew for sure was that he couldn’t leave it lying there.

“I found this little lady in the middle of a busy street so I stopped to pick her up. Took her to the vet the next day to get rid of all of the fleas and as soon as I did, she instantly fell asleep in the truck.”

The guy posted pictures of the cute kitten sleeping and snoring “as loud as a train” as he said, on Reddit and melted the hearts of more than 3K people!

According to Matt’s estimation, the calico kitten was either born on the street or was forgotten about by her mom when she was transferring the litter and she was left behind.

However, there was always the possibility that someone had just dumped the poor animal on the street, not caring about whether she would be able to make it on her own or not.

According to statistics, more than 2 million cats and dogs are killed each year because shelters are too full to keep them and there is a lack of adoptive homes. Moreover, the National Council on Pet Population Study and Policy (NCPPSP) has found that less than 2% of cats are returned to their owners.

The little kitten of our story might have been one of them if Matt hadn’t stumbled upon her and decided to help her.

So after taking her to the vet, the little feline fell asleep and Matt didn’t have the heart to wake her, so he sat there for more than an hour with the radio off so that the kitty could enjoy her sleep.

Much as Matt cared about his new friend, and although it was obvious by then that the kitty had chosen him to be her owner, he couldn’t ignore his severe cat allergy that prevented him from having cats at home.

So he started looking for a safe home for the kitty that would love her and help her grow and flourish. Having worked at a vet’s office before, he had vetted a few potential adopters, as he said. Of course, he received many requests from various people who wanted to take her home with them, but he had to be sure that he was sending her off to the right person.

So, eventually, he decided a lady who already owned another older rescue cat was the ideal owner for this charming little girl!

“I found her a home with a nice lady who has an older rescue cat,” he wrote on Reddit, since everyone was wondering what happened with the cat.

This heart-warming story restores our faith in humanity and teaches us a lesson of how we should treat stray animals.
