Guys in abandoned water park find two dogs who lead them to their friend in need

Trevor Costelloe is a 21-year-old YouTube filmmaker and vlogger from San Diego who makes videos about his urban exploring adventures. His goal is to encourage people to get out and see parts of the world they might not normally come across.

In one now-viral video, he and his friend Dave recorded themselves visiting an abandoned water park – but they could have never imagined that their innocent adventure would turn into a rescue operation.

During their February 2019 adventure, Trevor and Dave wandered around the park and ran into a small pack of dogs. The first dog they saw was a large white one that had been lurking over near the slides and looking at the duo as if to get their attention.

Heading over to see what was going on, the pair realized there was a second dog – a pit bill – nearby. It seemed as if the dogs were trying to lead them somewhere. While they were fine with following the white dog, they had some reservations about getting near the pit bull.

As the dogs approached them, Trevor and Dave back off a little, not knowing quite what to expect. Then the dogs circle them and try to lead them down a trail.

That’s when they notice there’s something in the water. San Diego has recently received a lot of rain, so there was standing water in a few places – enough for a dog to fall into, it turns out.

The men followed the two dogs only to discover that a third was trapped in a pool of water. He was unable to get out and had clearly lost much of his strength struggling to save himself.

From what we can tell, his two friends sought out the first humans they saw to come save their friend.

Of course, as the Internet is wont to do, plenty of people have claimed that the entire thing was staged – and, of course, viewers are welcome to argue about that. At this point, there’s no proof that it’s anything but what it appears to be.

Trevor and Dave were able to fetch the little brown dog from the water by grabbing on to his paws and pulling him up.

The three dogs seemed to enjoy a reunion after the big save as they sniffed each other, tails wagging away.

After the sweet moment, the white and brown dogs ran off but it was the pit bull – the dog they were afraid of at first – who stayed behind, seemingly thanking the two men for their help.

Trevor and Dave were shocked that they managed to be in the right place at the right time to save the pup in need.

“I cannot believe that happened,” Trevor said. “We barely saved that dog. If we didn’t come here to film today and explore this place, that dog honestly would have drowned. He barely had any strength left.”

Over the last year, the video has earned nearly a quarter of a million views on Costelloe’s YouTube channel and another 2.1 million when it was posted by The Dodo on their YouTube channel.

Everyone loves a happy ending!
