Gymnast captivates viewers when she drops to the mat in daring routine
Gymnastics is one of the most graceful yet challenging sports there is.
People might not regard it as that, as they often only see the graceful side of it, but being a gymnast entails a lot of hard work to perfect a routine.
That’s why gymnasts are one of the strongest and most flexible athletes.
However, this graceful sport can be considered dangerous, too.
All the tumbling and flips look amazing, but gymnasts can take a nasty fall when they land.
Compared to contact sports, the average number of injuries in a gymnastic event is about the same as in soccer, basketball, or hockey.
So, when this UCLA gymnast falls to the mat, it made everyone’s heart stop beating.
With a fall like this, anything could happen. Athletes never want to get injured because some injuries could end their careers.
Luckily for this gal, she got up and showed a show-stopping performance you’d like to watch over and over and over!
In 2020, Gracie Kramer won people’s hearts with her incredible performance.
The moment she stepped on that mat, you knew she meant business. She showed command of the floor and started her routine.
The commentators were taken aback by the character she was showing off in her performance, and they described it as “dark” and “foreboding.”
She went and danced off with some complex gymnastic moves.
Gracie sprung from one edge to the other as she did double saltos and twists at incredible speed.
This made everyone in that crowd excited because it looked so perfect. Then, she fell flat on the floor.
Nothing to worry about, though; it’s all part of the routine.
Gracie twisted her body, acting like a woman possessed by something dark and vengeful.
Her facial expression also matched that performance where she looked eerie and creepy – like those mannequins in horror movies.
She continued to execute a flawless performance that gained her a perfect score!
Her teammates ran to her and waited for the judges’ scores. Once it was revealed, everyone beamed with joy, cheering her on.
Gracie referred to her score as “an icing on the cake.”
“I feel like I’ve done 10 on routines before, and whether or not the judge thought so, I knew in my heart that it was. So, I’ve felt that feeling before, but it was just like almost 10 times more just because everyone else felt it, and it was just a really cool accomplishment for me,” she told Los Angeles Daily News.
Getting a perfect score is no joke.
Gymnastics is scored based on difficulty, connection value, technique, execution, and artistry (for balance beam and floor exercise).
Difficulty is scored based on the Code of Points, where skills are categorized and given specific points based on the move’s difficulty.
It is also essential to have a seamless transition between different movements to gain a higher connection value.
As for execution, technique, and artistry, judges will look into how well-executed the moves are, the technique of how they put together their gymnastics move and dance, and the artistry of their dance, facial expressions, and even their music.
