Make a fun hay bale swimming pool with this DIY summer hack
Summer is around the corner.
Unfortunately, people worldwide are still dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. We don’t know whether we’ll be able to spend hot days outdoors or not. The possibility of having to stay at home is still on the table.
Don’t worry, we have a solution. You can make yourself an excellent swimming pool. Before you ask it: no-it’s not expensive. Who told you that you have to be rich to have a pool in your backyard? Keep reading, and soon you’ll be cooling down in your DIY hay bale pool.
Hay bale pool cuts down the cost significantly, but you have to remember that it’s a shallow depth solution.
Of course, having a swimming pool can be too costly to maintain, but don’t you think about that right now. Since thousands of people have turned to experimenting with different homemade projects, the internet’s been flooding with numerous DIY hacks.
Building a swimming pool with straw bales is a clever hack.
We checked out hay bale pools on social media, and the results were overwhelming. Everyone seems to be into this hack, and it’s perfectly understandable. Having a pool means having unlimited access to relaxation. Let’s build it then.
Grab some bales of hay, plastic sheets, and heavy-duty tape.
Obviously, you’re going to need a water source, but we’ll talk about that later. The best part about this type of swimming pool is that you can always cart it away once you’ve had your fun. Once you’ve got all the supplies, start by laying the bales on the ground.
Place them where you want your pool to be because you won’t be able to move them afterward.
We recommend building a rectangular pool, but if you’re really into another shape, go ahead and give it a try. Cover the bales with plastic sheets, and secure everything with some rope and tape.
Make sure to tuck the sides of the sheets underneath the outside edge of the bales.
Use the tape to patch any holes. Remember that hay can be sharp, so don’t be surprised if some small holes arise. Now, fill the pool with water, and you’re done.
Don’t jump in right away, though.
We know that you can’t wait to test your experiment, but wait for the sun to warm the water a little bit. Bear in mind that these pools can hold a lot of water.
For those who want to go the extra mile, check out a video with a wooden structure around the pool.
Some of you will probably want to level things up a bit, and that’s perfectly fine. If you want your pool to be a bit fancier and also more permanent, secure it with wood around the edges.
We love the fact that the hack is not time-consuming at all. You’ll have everything done in a couple of hours. Enjoy!
In case you still want the real deal, maybe you’d like to know that building a swimming pool can cost you anywhere between $10,000 and $100,000
The price for building a swimming pool depends on several factors. For example, you can choose a metal-frame pool with a ladder and no deck. The other popular option is a fiberglass in-ground pool with a concrete deck. Above-gound pools tend to be less expensive than the in-ground ones.
Do the research, and remember that any option has its pros and cons. You have to think about materials and the building process. The goal is to enjoy yourself, and it doesn’t hurt to have a pool while doing so.
