People are making DIY swimming pools out of hay bales and it's exactly what you need this summer
Summer is back and it’s definitely time to put your swimsuits on! As the weather starts to heat up, so is the need to visit the beach. But, what if you don’t have the time and money to visit the beach?
You can always bring the beach in your own backyard.
Summer wouldn’t be complete without swimming in a pool or lounging on the beach. It’s the perfect time to take the kids out and enjoy a fun recreational activity. Swimming is also a perfect activity to bond with your kids.
More than that, swimming is a great sport to teach your kids. Aside from lessons in class, it’s highly beneficial to teach kids some survival skills. Practicing their swim skills is a great way for them to develop. However, not a lot of parents can bring their kids to the local pool or have a swimming pool in their backyard.
This group of people created a swimming pool out of hay bales!
Local magazines and the Internet have misled everyone into believing that a swimming pool is only for the people who can afford to have one. Truthfully, it does cost a couple of thousands of dollars to create a swimming pool in your backyard. But, these people are proving us all wrong!
They created their own DIY and cost-effective swimming pool
Who knew that was even an option, right? Considering that summer is slowly building up to its hot days, picking this cheap and simple DIY pool is a great choice.
Here are the tools you need:
- 14 bales of hay or straw bales,
- Plastic sheets or a large tarp
- Rope
- Heavy-duty tape
- Water (obviously)
Once you prepared your tools, it’s time to create your DIY pool.
The first step is to lay the bales on the ground.
Lay the bales on the ground and place it in a square perimeter. For a rectangular pool, place four bales on the two sides while three bales on the two ends. Got it?
The second step is to place it over the sheet of plastic or tarpaulin.
If it isn’t large enough, tape them together. Make sure that there aren’t any holes to avoid leaks. You can always use heavy-duty tape to tape those areas.
The third step is to secure the perimeter using the rope.
Tie the rope around the bales and start pouring water into the center. Once the pool is filled with water, you can start swimming! Add some loungers on the sides and inflatable toys. Don’t forget to invite your friends over for a fun pool party.
There are some important reminders you need to take note of fun for a fun summertime with your friends and family.
One of those is to always wear sunscreen. Sunburns can ruin your day and skin, so before heading out, wear a sunscreen of at least SPF 50. Next is to always stay hydrated. You’re out in the sun, so there is a high chance you’ll be losing fluids. Pack up your bottle before leaving your home. Lastly, safely enter and exit the pool.
Honestly, we didn’t know that it was possible. So, don’t wait until summer is over. Create your own DIY swimming using hay bales!
