On Valentines Day, a calf was born during a brutal winter storm.

The little girl almost didn’t survive the harsh elements. When the owners of the ranch discovered the small calf lying motionless, they sprung into action.

The cold weather was too much for the little calf.

The calf, who would later be named Valentine, was brought inside and wrapped in a warm blanket. They placed a heater next to her and hoped that she would pull through.

The little calf was so cold, however, that she was barely responding to anything the family did.

The small calf could barely open her eyes.

The situation was looking dire for poor Valentine. Just then, however, something amazing happened.

The family’s puppy entered the room to investigate the situation and when they discovered Valentine, he ran right over to her.

Although the small dog was only a baby himself, he could tell this poor animal needed help that he could provide.

He began licking the calf’s head and face but soon figured out this might not be enough help. The calf was freezing and would need the puppy’s body heat to warm up.

The puppy cozied right up to Valentine and used his body heat to help warm the small calf up.

Although we can’t be sure what the puppy was thinking, he clearly knew something was wrong with Valentine and was doing everything he could think of to help.

He was truly committed to seeing her through this situation.

The puppy cuddled and lay next to Valentine for hours.

The only time he left her side was to go tell his family the news about her progress, which he did through a series of barks.

After some time, Valentine started showing signs of improvement.

She was starting to move around more and seemed to be more alert.

The puppy continued to lick the calf’s face and Valentine finally let out her first “Moo!” The sound ended up startling the small dog a little.

Valentine started to show even more signs of improving the longer the puppy stayed by her side. She even stood up and had something to drink.

It looked like she was going to make it and she had a canine friend to thank for it.

That night, the puppy and Valentine lay side by side as they slept.

Come the morning, Valentine’s condition had improved so much she could return to the field outside.

When little Valentine was brought out to the field with the rest of the cows, her mother picked up her scent and knew that this was her baby. Valentine then ran off with her mother to start her life on the farm.

She almost didn’t make it, but thanks to some caring humans and one amazing puppy, she is healthy and strong.

As for the puppy, this heroic dog proved what a good boy he is. It’s another example of how caring, brave, and loyal our canine friends truly are.
