But for an old man, bedtime could be one of the most energetically charged moments before bedtime. And even with his age, he didnât stop himself from tapping into his inner child. And in that short moment, he and his dog showed what it means to be âmanâs best friendâ.
Jose Paulo Silva has always kept a camera in his bedroom.
The surveillance camera serves as a protection for him and his loved ones, especially when he was a victim of a crime himself. But itâs also the device that would launch him and his dog, Lola, into internet fame.

In a video upload on the social media website TikTok, Silva was seen preparing for bed. He was about to get on the mattress but there was one problem â Lola was already on it and the way her behind is perked up, it seemed like she was not ready to go sleep anytime soon.
Silva approached his dog but Lola responded by lunging at her old companion. At that moment, Silva knew what was going on and he decided not to back down.
Instead of pushing Lola off, Silva took the pillow and decided to play.
The short video showed both of them having the best time of their lives just before sleeping. Lola was darting around the room and whenever she stops, Silva jumps around to taunt his dog then the ruckus happens all over again.
Itâs an amazing bond between man and beast but this life of happiness wasnât always the norm for Lola.
Lola and her sister were rescued on a major road in Franco da Rocha, Sao Paulo.
The two dogs were integrated into a local firefighting school. He said that the two dogs slept and stayed in the womenâs dormitory only to come out once the training for the day commenced.
He considered both dogs as firefighters but that would soon change as circumstances progressed. Her sister was adopted eventually and the students were graduating. When the pandemic hit the country, the school had no choice but to close down.
Lola needed to be adopted quickly.
Silvaâs stepson was one of the students in the firefighting school. He took a picture of Lola and sent it to Silva. At that moment, Silva knew he had to take Lola under his care.
It took several days for Lola to adjust to her new life. At first, she was very cautious about everything but slowly, she began to warm up to Silva and his family.
Silva explained to the Bored Panda that Lola has this immense urge to be with people, and it might explain why she always wants some extra pets and playtime just before going to bed.
Silva wouldnât have it any other way, though.
Lola has been an important part of his life especially when heâs undergoing chemotherapy.
He was also glad that his video made people happy. He shared that it was a good way for people to take their focus off the tough news of the day and just bask in that small pocket of happiness.
And if bedtime becomes a short playtime, we’re not complaining.
