Compassion creates miracles. When your actions are geared toward helping others, trust that wonderful things will begin to surface.

The good thing is the impact of kindness cannot be measured by how grand the gesture is.

Any act of kindness carried out with pure intentions is already a grand gesture in itself – it’s not a matter of how ‘hard’ or ‘easy’ it is.

Destiny Vasquez had this realization when she was out one evening. The eighteen-year-old had spotted two stray dogs in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant in Brownsville, Texas. She noticed the dogs weren’t simply strolling. They seemed to be reaching out for help. She recalls,

“They literally begged to be taken but they weren’t. They go up to every car that passes by in hopes to find a home.”

She decided to take a video of the two dogs and share it through her friend’s Facebook page. In the clip, the two dogs can be seen wagging their tails and putting their paws on the window of the car as they are fed scraps.

“Tonight, it will be another night in the parking lot. It will be another night in the streets. These two only have each other and desperately need rescue together! Please help network them for rescue and foster!”

Just one look, and you’ll see how sweet the two stray dogs are.

If you watch closely, you’ll notice how they seem to be holding on to the hope that eventually, they’ll be adopted into a loving home.

In an interview with The Dodo, Destiny shares how she felt when she first saw the dogs.

“I was in the drive-thru, I saw one of the dogs and said, ‘Oh my gosh! This dog has no home. I was crying and crying. I called my mom, and I said, ‘Mom, I have to get this dog.’ I didn’t know there were two dogs at the time.”

Destiny’s willingness to make life better for the two dogs led to a promising development. Animal Aid Brigade volunteer Ana Teran saw the Facebook post and reached out to offer assistance.

The volunteer recalls,

“As soon as I saw it, I just couldn’t believe it. I couldn’t let it go. I just said, ‘How can I get these dogs? If I have to rent a car, I will, to get them.”

Ana ended up driving from Houston to South Texas to see the dogs and do what she can to help them.

She couldn’t help but gush.

“I was so excited to see them! They were just the cutest. They wanted love so desperately. They were so friendly. They were not fearful or timid. They had big smiles; they were so excited. They had no idea what was going on, but they were so happy.”

Ana named the two dogs Patty and Pepper. She decided to take care of them until she could find the right people to adopt them.

Delighted at how bonded the two dogs are, Ana describes their demeanor as “very sweet.” The kind-hearted volunteer also anticipates how sad she’ll be once someone comes forward and offers to adopt the dogs.

Thanks to Destiny and Ana, Patty and Pepper are off the streets and no longer have to beg for food or search for someone to love and care for them.

Kudos to selfless people like these two women who prove that animals are just as deserving of compassion as humans are.

Please SHARE this with your friends and family.
