Antique collector hunts down homeless man who brought in item to share the huge profits

The things that we throw out could be worth more money than we think! It’s rare antiques that many people almost throw out that can shock collectors across the world with statements like, “We didn’t know more of those existed!” Turns out, it was just sitting in someone’s shed.

For one man in Edmonton, Alberta, that turned out to be exactly the case!

A homeless man walked into an antique shop called Curiosity Incorporated and had something special with him. Adam Gillian is a walk-in regular in the shop, although he was, in fact, homeless.

Adam had found an old animation cell in a dumpster and brought it in to sell.

When he sold it to Alexander Archbold, the shop owner, he got a crisp $20 for his framed photo of the Disney character, Bambi. For a few minutes looking around in the trash, $20 seemed to be a great deal!

In a later YouTube video, Alexander recounts the experience.

He didn’t take that close of a look when he was buying the piece from Adam and when he actually sat down to get it ready, he was shocked. This piece was worth much more than 20 bucks. He might just need to track down his friend and let him know $20 wasn’t enough!

After selling the frame, he set aside half the amount and went out in search of Adam to give him a more reasonable share.

The only issue, however, is that he didn’t know where to find him! As a homeless man, he wasn’t locked down anywhere and didn’t have an address. After wandering the streets looking for Adam, Alexander finally gave up but kept the money aside.

Two weeks later, Adam finally walked into the shop again.

After hearing that Alexander had some money for him, Adam was pretty excited! They agreed to meet again the next day so Alexander could give him his share. Alexander had spent much of his life in a tough spot and wasn’t about to jip the man a fair share:

“My mom worked three jobs for a while, and we didn’t have a home. We struggled with poverty and homelessness ourselves when I was a kid. And for much of junior high, we lived in motels.”

Alexander surprised him by pretending they would interview him for YouTube content.

After some questions, it was clear that Adam barely even remembered the small item that he had sold a little while ago. Alexander then reminded him of it and told him that he ended up selling the item… for $3,700!

Adam was going to get nearly all of that!

“We didn’t mention it in this video but Adam did get the entire value of the piece. We used the other half for food clothes and a ticket home. Additionally we were able to raise $18k through gofundme. There is an update linked to the end of this video :) thanks for watching! And all the best to you Adam and your new future!”

After an incredible find and an amazing sell, Adam was going to have luck and some love on his side again. He even looks like a new person!
