Homeless woman leaves job interview unaware manager is watching her on security camera
âDance like no oneâs watchingâ may be Kallayah Jonesâs motto in life.
Her story went viral for the little âhappy danceâ she did after her job interview in the parking lot at The Spot Sports Bar and Grill in Decatur, Georgia.
Something good must have transpired inside that made her do so. But what she didnât know was that the manager was watching.
The Spotâs Manager, Dakara Spence, saw her little dance and shared it on social media.
There was something about Kallayah that impressed Dakara during the interview, but it was what she saw outside the storeâs window that won her over.
She looked over and saw her recent interviewee do a little happy dance.
She called and told her she got the job â even more reason to dance!
Dakara searched the security camera footage of that moment and shared it on social media.
Netizens who saw it shared the joy that Kallayah felt and even shared their personal experiences.
They saw right through her happiness in that dance and wished her good luck.
Others commented that this positive attitude and demeanor would get her far.
The video went viral, and it got the attention of local media.
This gave Kallayah a chance to share her story with the world, and the reason behind that happy dance convinced us that she deserved her job.
Kallayah has been homeless for two years, right before that job interview.
Sheâs been bouncing from one house to another â from her friendâs to her grandmaâs and even to her boyfriendâs place.
Struggling to pick herself up, she was nervous and had anxiety attacks before the interview.
Her boyfriend encouraged her to go for it and gave her some advice.
He told her to be herself because he knew she could nail that interview.
Kallayah took that to heart, shrugging all the negative energy off, and everything went well.
Thatâs when she did her dance to signal to her boyfriend, waiting in the parking lot, that the interview went well.
On the other hand, Dakara saw something in Kallayah that made her decide to hire her.
âWhen she came to the interview in her slippers and scarf, I know what that is like, because I was also homeless, as well. I told myself if I ever had the opportunity to give a job to someone else, Iâm going to do it,â she told 11Alive.
The two have been spreading smiles and all the love since then.
Theyâve been interviewed by different news and morning shows to spread the word of kindness and positivity.
Kallayah shared that she enjoyed her new job and looked forward to her first paycheck.
At a time and age when it was difficult to get jobs, it was worth the happy dance indeed.
