Disney shared a DIY Dole Whip recipe for you to make at home and it's only 3 ingredients
While trying to navigate a world surrounded by uncertainty some are facing the discouraging reality that they may not be able to keep their 2020 plans.
As businesses big and small are making responsive decisions in light of the pandemic, many have closed their doors indefinitely. Among those shut down are the Disneyland theme parks. And unfortunately there is no telling when they may reopen.
But Disneyland isn’t letting the pandemic stop them from having fun. And to soften the blow of their closed doors, they’re spreading their beloved magic as many ways as possible.
Earlier this week Disney announced the recipe for their beloved Churros. According to the park they sell more than 5.5 million churros in a year. To help share the experience Disney released a how-to video on their YouTube channel.
But they didn’t stop there.
Disney lovers rejoice! There are few Disneyland treats as adored as the ever-popular pineapple Dole Whip. And for the first time ever you can make it from the comfort of your own home. Even more exciting than that? It only requires three ingredients.
The snack rose to cult-status after it was first introduced to the park in 1986. Soon enough, fans turned into devotees, embracing everything and anything having to do with the soft-serve.
According to Laist:
“The simple dessert also has a deep-rooted cult following. Do a simple search on Etsy and you will find pages of Dole Whip-inspired scented candles, headbands, and T-shirts with millennial slogans like, ‘Now watch me whip.'”
Perhaps the magic is truly in the simplicity of the dessert. Disney revealed the how-to recently on their app, My Disney Experience. Ready to make it for yourself? Follow along!
For this recipe, all you need is vanilla ice cream, pineapple juice and frozen pineapple chunks. What could be easier than that?
To begin, combine a ‘big’ scoop of vanilla ice cream in a blender with 4 ounces of pineapple juice and 2 cups of frozen pineapple chunks.
Blend the ingredients together until they’re smooth.
And to achieve that perfect swirl-effect, pipe the mixture into a serving cup or bowl. If you don’t have a star-tipped piping bag, you can substitute with the corner of a ziploc or sandwich bag.
Of note is that the original Dole Whip served in parks is vegan and dairy-free. So if you want to recreate to perfection have no fear, Dole has you covered!
According to Dole’s website:
βThe classic treat you love is now available to enjoy at home! This dairy-free dessert is perfect for summer or anytime you feel like adding a little sweetness to your day. With only four ingredients and minutes to prepare, itβs almost as good as enjoying this treat while on vacation … almost.β
If you’d like to try it you’ll follow the same method as above, but with alternative ingredients:
- 1 cup pineapple juice (frozen)
- 1 banana (peeled and frozen)
- 2 1/2 teaspoons of powdered sugar
- 1β4 to 1/2 cups of unsweetened coconut milk
Just blend them together and you’ve got yourself the most refreshing treat ever!
