Woman finds dwarf horse on Craigslist and discovers she loves to dance
This is Martha the mini horse.
She was born and diagnosed with a fatal type of dwarfism.
With the discovery of her condition, vets gave her just 6-12 months to live.
Martha had many health issues commonly associated with dwarfism. Issues that were expected to give her a bad quality of life.
The vets and people caring for her believed she would die soon because of those health issues.
But Stacy from R&R Ranch found out about the mini horse. She does rescue miniature horses so she was determined to do her best to save Martha.
Stacy’s best was more than enough for the mini horse.
“We did not want to be selfish, but we also didn’t want to cut short a life that could be saved,” Rolfe told Daily Paws.
Stacy Rolfe found Martha on Craigslist and immediately went to purchase her.
And even though the horse’s life expectancy was short, Stacy knew she couldn’t fail the poor animal.
She would do anything she could to give Martha a good quality of life.
Martha was taken to the miniature horse sanctuary.
That’s when Stacy and the others saw that the mini horse had a serious problem with her front legs.
“Her legs jutted out of her chest,” Rofle told Cuddle Buddies, “and then down, and splayed out at a very wide angle.”
It really was painful for Martha to walk.
They had Martha’s hooves trimmed in such a way that would slowly bring them in.
Stacy spent a lot time bonding with Martha. The two would sit next to each other or even cuddle on the floor.
Everyone could see that the two had formed a special connection.
All the extra care paid off too!
Martha’s legs started to look much better after a time. She could even walk more comfortably so now the mini horse began to enjoy the ranch.
“We have this little girl that was just like, I don’t care what’s wrong with me, I’m happy.” says Rolfe. “She didn’t know how long she had to live, and she was like, it’s OK, I can do this, I can play, I can be happy.”
Marth the mini horse overcame the odds.
This adorable little horse celebrated her third birthday and now she’s ready for many more years thanks to Stacy and her team.
She just loves to run and dance around the stables and the ranch.
Martha even enjoys playing with snow, having fun and enjoying every moment she has with Stacy.
What’s super cute is how Martha is sociable both with the other animals on the ranch and with the people taking care of her.
She even visits nursing homes where the people can hug and brush her, and that just lifts their spirits.
Little Martha has become so popular on social media. She’s often featured on their Instagram page so go check it out!
