Hilarious horse falls over and ‘plays dead’ every time someone tries to ride him

Jingang the horse wants people to know that not all horses were made to be ridden. In fact, his response to being approached by riders has earned over 25 million views in about a month on Facebook (and another 2 million on YouTube).

Did you know a horse could “play dead”?

We certainly didn’t, but his owners made a compilation of Jingang literally falling over and pretending to be dead – with his tongue hanging out and everything – every time a rider puts a saddle on him.

He even has a variety of ways to play dead, including with his legs up in the air.

After all, if you’re going to cry wolf you need to change it up every now and then.

Of course, Jingang could just refuse to move or lie down with dignity to protest being ridden, but he’s quite the drama queen. This beautiful boy would rather goof around and fall right over.

It really helps get the point across.

He’s not even begging for a different kind of attention, he just wants riders off his back. In fact, as soon as they walk away, Jingang gets right back up like nothing ever happened.

And he’ll do it multiple times in a row – falling over when someone approaches and getting up when they turn to walk away. If nothing else, he’s certainly getting his exercise, just not in the way you would expect from a horse.

We really feel for Jingang. While humans have kept horses around for thousands of years in order to ride them, that doesn’t mean they have to like it – and some of them clearly don’t.

Do you want to lug a human around on your back all day?

Even if Jingang is stubborn, he’s also smart – he knows what he’s doing even if he’s not terribly convincing at pulling it off. Then again, neither were we all those times we pretended to be asleep when our mothers were telling us it was time to get up for school.

Jingang’s owners are in on the joke and while it looks like they’ve tried to train him, he’s not going to become a riding horse any time soon. Luckily, they’ve got a sense of humor about it.

“It’s cute but naughty,” one of them says.

Now, because it’s the Internet, a good number of people have chimed in with their “expertise” to claim Jingang has been abused and is scared, or has been trained to do this truck. Of course, it would be incredibly sad if the horse acted this way because it had been abused, but we legitimately don’t know.

But people do enjoy calling others “stupid” even though they lack just as much context as everyone else. That’s just the kind of behavior that makes some people feel good about themselves.

This isn’t a common reaction, so the horse had to learn the behavior somehow. We can’t read his emotions so we don’t know if he’s scared or proud of himself for doing a trick.
