Lone horse surrounded by wolves stands his ground with “self-defense” moves
One of the most frightening things one can encounter is a pack of large, hungry wolves.
It’s in movies for a reason.
The sight of a pack of snarling wolves can make your heart race.
As soon as you witness an animal within the range of a wolf pack, you immediately feel uneasy for the animal.
In the midst of a snowy day in the wilderness, the wolves were actively seeking food.
Suddenly, a horse trotted into the area and began grazing on the scarce vegetation, completely unaware of the circling around it.
The onlookers, however, were filled with terror.
The observers had little doubt that the Italian wolves were preparing to make a meal out of the horse, and they anxiously awaited what was about to happen.
Yet, something unusual occurred as the horse carried on grazing.
Rather than an assault, the wolves stared in awe as the horse wandered without care or notice of the wolves.
As the black and white horse sauntered towards another patch of land, a few wolves retreated.
Even the one who had been positioned right beneath him moved away hastily.
Some of the predators, who had been sleeping in the snow, abruptly sat upright as the horse approached them.
The wolves appeared apprehensive.
The horse might launch an attack on them. They observed and waited cautiously, attempting to devise the best course of action.
Meanwhile, the spectators filmed as the horse came closer.
The horse advanced gradually, entering the midst of the wolf pack, causing the wolves to stare in disbelief.
Throughout this encounter, the horse kept its nose down, indicating that it only sought sustenance and wanted to avoid any conflict.
As the tension peaked the horse did something extraordinary.
The horse made its move
It turned around and positioned itself at the center of the pack.
Then, gradually, it lowered itself onto the ground and began to frolic in the snow like a young pup!
The men yelled out in utter disbelief.
There was the horse, flipping over onto its back in the snow, flailing its feet in every direction.
It even used its tail to gather up the snow.
The horse was completely unfazed by the presence of the wolves, a sight that left everyone in disbelief.
As the horse tumbled about, the wolves gazed upon it.
They couldn’t comprehend why this being was unafraid of them.
The horse appeared to regard himself as the leader of the pack, and he validated this status through his actions. After shaking the snow off his coat, the horse rose to his feet.
All eyes remained fixed on the horse.
The wolves stood with their ears pricked up, but they soon realized the horse meant no harm to them.
A YouTube commentator explained that the horse had little to be concerned about:
“Basically these guys are italian wolves, one of the smaller wolves and have nothing in their diet bigger than a deer… They’ve probably never seen or hunted a horse before and are wary and curious… So everyone just watches and checks out the passive large rolling thing and goes on with their days. Interesting and cool video!”
It’s comforting to know that the horse was not in any danger and that both he and the wolves engaged in a curious yet non-threatening interaction.
The natural world is truly fascinating.
