Horses line the fence to get a peek at 2-day-old foal born with unique markings
We are all unique, but there are ones who are far more special than others when it comes to physical features.
Well, I am not only talking about humans here. Animals are also part of nature and they are not created the same.
One horse with very special markings has caught the eye of all the other horses on the same farm.
A couple in Melbourne, Australia has been managing their Down Under Colour ranch for several years. Jackie and Scott Nelson have been raising American Paint Horses on their property and are known for their beautiful animals.
They have been in the business of birthing and raising horses for so long that nothing could surprise them anymore. Well, that was until they saw one incredible foal that truly took their breath away.
Poka, one of their mares, gave birth to a foal and it has a unique feature the couple has rarely seen in real life.
They called the foal Coconut, and it is a horse also referred to as a Medicine Hat horse. So, what exactly is a Medicine Hat horse?
This type of horse is basically a pinto horse with a specific marking on its body. Usually, these horses are entirely white or with tiny colored patches on other parts but their unique part is their colored patch covering the ears and the top of the head.
In Native American culture, Medicine Hat horses are believed to have magical powers.
These kinds of horses are also believed to have shield-like marks on their chests. The “medicine hat” also is referred to at times as a “war bonnet”. These markings make the horse unique and identifiable.
One of the things associated with this horse is its “ability” to protect its riders from harm during battle. This legend has been passed on and up to this day has never been forgotten.
These horses are also known to have pink muzzles and one blue-colored eye.
When the couple saw their incredibly unique foal, they knew she was doubly special.
In their video uploaded on YouTube to highlight the uniqueness of Coconut, the couple explained what the blue eye meant.
โThis eye in Indian Mythology is called a Sky Eye. If the Chief or Medicine Man dies in battle then this one blue sky eye will carry their spirits to their Gods.โ
Seeing Coconut for the first time was a shock to Jackie and Scott. They have heard about the Medicine Hat Horse but did not expect to have one on their own ranch.
At only two days old, the couple wanted to show off Coconut.
Coconut and her mother, Poka, can be seen in the video walking and galloping around the ranch. Other horses look as if they are intrigued and mesmerized as they lay eyes on the newborn horse.
Her color is a standout, and all eyes are on the newest member of the family. However, Poka is as protective as any mother.
She would not let others go near her baby girl. The other horses could only get a glimpse of the little princess who just arrived.
