Howard Stern and his wife open up their home for stray cats – foster over 300 in total

Howard Stern is the self-proclaimed ‘King of All Media’, but it turns out that he and his wife actually treat felines in need like absolute royals. The man is the host of The Howard Stern Show and is a big media personality in the United States, both on television and on the radio. You might also know him from his time in America’s Got Talent, where he was a judge during four seasons of the talent show.

He recently signed a deal with SiriusXM to continue his work as a radio host and released his third book last year. Stern is definitely a busy bee, but the work doesn’t stop when he comes home.

Howard and his wife Beth have opened up their doors for cats in need, and have even fostered over 300 cats in total.

The actual number is probably a lot higher than that since Beth said they welcomed their 300th foster cat back in 2016. They aren’t exactly counting anymore, but suffice to say it’s going to be a lot higher now.

“It’s crazy. Right now we have…I have to count…17 kittens in the house,” Beth Stern said to Fox News.

The 44-year-old woman is a huge animal lover and an advocate for animal rights, and she was even a big part of the BTIG Charity Day. During that special day, celebrities are asked to raise funds for a good cause of their choosing, and Beth dedicated herself to helping and fostering animals in need.

The North Shore Animal League definitely couldn’t be any happier with the endorsement and support that the Stern family has given them. This specific cause is “the world’s largest no-kill animal rescue and adoption organization,” so it’s not hard to see why Beth and Howard are so passionate about it.

It can definitely get very busy at the Stern family home because they just take in any cat who needs their help. Beth and Howard don’t mind the extra feline company at all.

“Whoever needs us is welcome to come in our home,” Beth added.

Even though it may definitely surprise some, it was actually Howard who came up with the idea to take in the kittens. It started with a single litter, but they opened up their doors for rescued cats and have never closed them since.

“He was right there with me when we decided, ‘You know what? … Let’s foster a litter of kittens,’” Beth said. “We loved it so much. We cried like babies when we handed them off to their forever families! We didn’t realize the emotional attachment involved.”

In fact, the couple even feels that the kittens and their shared passion to take care of them has brought them closer together.

“[Our idea of a date night is] probably just going to a nice restaurant, having a glass of wine and talking about all of our pets, all of our kittens.”

Even though most of the cats in the Stern home are foster cats and only stay there until they’re healthy or have found an adoptive home, the two also have pets of their own.

In fact, Beth even says that their one-eyed cat Sophia absolutely loves Howard. We’re pretty sure that love goes two ways.

It’s absolutely amazing that these cats in need can find a loving foster home like this, and animal organizations and the furry four-footers themselves will always be incredibly thankful for families who open up their doors and hearts.
