The TODAY Show has a segment called Ambush Makeovers, where they send makeup artists and stylists out on a hunt around the TODAY plaza, bright and early, looking for the perfect person most deserving of a makeover.

The hairstylist is the famous Louis Licari and the stylist is Jill Martin. Licari owns two hair salons in New York City and Beverly Hills while Martin is the author of the book Fashion for Dummies and The Weekend Makeover. Together, they found two wonderful women who are in for a seriously special treat.

The first woman’s transformation was especially heartwarming though, as it literally brought her shocked husband to tears.

The first lady to get all dolled up goes by the name of Lourdes Hembrick. She is 52-years-old, from Forth Worth Texas, and excited to have been chosen by the glam team. While she rarely ever spoils herself, she shared, she was looking forward to getting a new look that would help her as she launched into her new career (she was just about to finish nursing school).

Before diving into her full-on pamper session, Hembrick explained that she has to keep her hair long enough to put in a ponytail — for her job — but she would like to have a hairstyle that is a little bit shorter and fuller. She especially wanted to get rid of her gray hair, to which her husband disagreed with.

The TODAY host assured Hembrick that she was about to be the hottest nurse in town to which she responded, “I can’t wait!” She was clearly over the moon and ready to treat herself to something she normally never would in her regular day-to-day life.

As her husband waits, blindfolded with much anticipation, he says he loves her gray hair. When Hembrick finally makes her post-transformation debut to the room though — no gray hair in sight — the camera cuts to her husband who is just absolutely overwhelmed by Hembrick’s radiating beauty and confidence.

“Wow, wow, wow!” is all he can muster up to say for the first few moments of the debut. Then his eyes begin to water up. He’s crying over his wife’s beauty!

Even though he originally fought to keep the gray hair, we think it is safe to say that he didn’t mind in the end.

After giving her husband the first glimpse, Hembrick then takes to a mirror to view the transformation herself for the first time. Much like her husband, she is also hit with extremely overwhelming emotions.

“Oh my god!” She exclaims over and over again in disbelief at her own reflection. “You guys did a fabulous job,” she continues, wiping away her happy tears.

Licari explained that he kept the hair long enough so that she could pull it back for her nursing job. Additionally, he softened the color and added a few highlights.

“Very, very nice,” her husband says.

The outfit is great too. It features a white cardigan with a flowy top underneath that can also just be worn on its own.

This is the most heartwarming transformation we’ve ever seen! The love and support between this husband and wife is evident.
