Husband looks in drive thru order and tells wife “That’s not food in the bag”
Being paid to eat at McDonald’s sounds like an impossible dream, but it almost happened to one couple in the US.
Greg and Stayce Terry ordered their breakfast at the local McDonald’s drive-through, got their bag of food, and drove away.
However, when they checked their food they couldn’t believe what they saw.
The couple from Tennesse wanted to eat their breakfast from the fast-food giant one morning. They ordered some meals, took their paper bag, and head home.
Little do they know, the paper bag carried something else.
Upon opening the bag, instead of their tasty morning meal, they found thousands of dollars in cash.
Apparently, an employee placed the bag of money on the drive-thru order line. The employee in question managed to quickly contact the Terrys and recover the money immediately.
The money was supposed to be a drop to the bank, but somehow, it got mixed in with the food orders. As soon as the couple found out that it was a deposit, they knew they had to do what’s right and went back to the store.
Some people may not have been so quick to return it, but Stacy Terry said in an interview that she simply couldn’t have that on her conscience.
“The second that he said it was their deposit, my first thing was get in the car, let’s take it back. You know, there’s no other way to have it, I couldn’t live with myself with that. Said, Stacey Terry.
Luckily, one employee realized that the money was gone and she was able to contact the family immediately. She ran after the couple and was visibly shaking.
“She was shaken, you know very upset, visibly upset she should have been because it could have been anybody.” Stacey Terry told News 5.
McDonald’s addressed the issue and thanked the couple for their honesty and good hearts. They believe that it was an honest mistake and hopes no one loses their job over the incident.
“We are grateful for this customer and the action they took upon realizing our error. We are looking into why this mistake happened, but what is most important to us is knowing that we are part of a community with values that were evidenced by this person’s actions.” The McDonald’s statement read.
The story has since gone viral, with several viewers praising the couple’s good deed.
Some of the comments were:
“It was the right thing to do. awesome job. thank God it was them.”
“At least I got some of my hopes up for humanity.”
“I’m glad there are still people with good hearts that value morals over money!”
It’s very easy to be tempted with quick money, but we have to consider where the money came from. It would have been so easy to take the money away but this couple still chose to do the right thing.
Kudos to this honest family!
