Most people would look at a tree stump and not think much of it. But every now and then, a creative person comes along and decides to turn the seemingly mundane into a work of art.

This wonderful couple who lives in Tennessee decided to get creative with a DIY project that would enhance their home. They took on the challenge to create a Gnome House made of an old tree stump they had in their yard.

It turns out you can do a lot with a tree stump.

Luckily, the couple decided to document the entire process on video and uploaded it to Youtube a few years back. So many people all over the world have been fascinated by what they created and it shows in the numbers: the video earned nearly 4 million views.

The project in their front yard has also caught the attention of everyone who has driven passed their home.

The woman, Mimi, is a teacher who recently became an empty nester. It’s quite a strange thing to deal with at first, so she quickly learned that her Youtube Channel was really helpful. It turned out to be an incredibly wonderful outlet for all of her creative endeavors.

On her channel, she posts tons of videos that teach others how to make special recipes, crafts, and other seasonal decors.

Mimi is a beloved teacher on the interwebs. She makes everything seem really simple and easy to understand, which is important for people who are looking to try something new.

This Gnome House continues to be one of her biggest hits though.

Mimi explained how she came up with the concept for the House:

“It all started in April when hubby told me he needed to cut down a dead tree.”

The cedar shake roof is a special feature on this house. Each of the little cedar shake roof tiles are cut by hand. Additionally, everything is made in miniature size (or “fun size”) so it looks extra cute. You know, for the tiny Gnomes.

Watching Mimi and her husband put everything together is so nice, too. It’s strangely relaxing.

After they put together the roof, it was time for the important little finishing details. For the front door, Mimi bought a tiny lamp holder and a hanging lantern.

The final product is a tiny and adorable little house.

It is so decorative and has so much personality, with its little additions like the tiny lamp holder and lantern. It is so eye-catching, that it actually catches the attention of every person that drives by the couple’s home.

It really excites everyone who passes by, whether they are a child or an adult. It’s a really fascinating thing to pass by on the street!
