The duo met while attending Brigham Young University in Utah and they were both involved in athletics before they found dance. Shane was a competitive gymnast throughout his childhood and Shannon performed on an acrobatic jump rope team for the American Heart Association.

Once they found dance they never looked back, and their participation in the university’s BYU Ballroom Dance Company, which performs around the world, is what brought them together.

They’ve been successful on and off the dance floor, marrying and later becoming British Invitational Exhibition Champions, U.S. National Cabaret Champions, World Cabaret Champion, U.S. National Theater Arts Champions, and U.S. National American Rhythm Finalists.

They’ve also competed on reality talent competitions and made guest appearances on America’s Got Talent, America’s Ballroom Challenge, The Dance League, and The Today Show.

Their dancing style makes them part of a new breed of performers that incorporates different elements into traditional ballroom dance.

In one of their most popular videos – which has been viewed over 3 million times in a little over a year – the couple dances to “Never Enough,” from the musical The Greatest Showman.

As the duo approaches one another on the dance floor, the music begins and they each take off on their own. Their movements look like more of a combination of ballet and modern dance than a couples pairing, but things are about to get steamy (and acrobatic!) between the two.

A series of slides and twists are quickly followed by a jump and catch that has the crowd cheering well before the first minute of their performance is over.

Reminiscent of couples figure skating, they execute different types of lifts and Shannon looks positively weightless as Shane glides across the floor with her lifted high in the air.

At one point you wonder just how many more times they can spin without getting dizzy before an epic dismount in which Shannon dives towards the floor.

In fact, Shannon spends more time airborne during the performance than she does on her feet!

We can’t even imagine the core and upper body strength it takes for each dancer to pull off the moves they’re nailing, but somehow they make it look easy.

And let’s just say one of their final moves – in which Shane has Shannon lifted in the air by one leg while he slowly falls into a split – is something we didn’t think was possible.

We’re certainly not tempted to try this at home, even if it does look pretty cool.

The duo gets a standing ovation as they take their bows and even give a little encore before gliding off stage.

And those watching at home went wild for the performance as well:

“I gave you guys a standing ovation from my room by accident out of shock and admiration,” said one commenter.

Many people commented on Shane’s amazing strength and his ability to lift Shannon like a feather.

Others were simply shocked at how many impressive moves they pulled off.

Another commenter exclaimed:

“Perfection!! Just when I thought wow, that was the best move of the whole dance, they did another one, then another one, and another one. Truly amazing,”
