4 handsome singers mesmerize with sultry cover of ‘I Will Always Love You’

When thinking of some of the most famous love songs in the world, your mind will invariably turn to Whitney Houston’s cover of Dolly Parton’s hit ‘I Will Always Love You’.

First released by Dolly in 1974, the song is best known for Whitney’s 1992 version from the movie “The Bodyguard”.

Full of power and sorrow, love and heartbreak, the song has been covered by many different artists.

One version that hit the scene a while ago was a half-Spanish, half-English version sung by the all-male quartet, Il Divo.

Their version starts slowly and builds to an incredible crescendo at the end, all while being accompanied by live musicians.

Il Divo consists of tenors Urs Bühler, David Miller, and Sébastian Izambard, and the late Carlos Marín as baritone.

These four men formed their world renowned group in 2003 and have been performing together ever since.

They have sang for presidents, as well as the Queen, and also entertained viewers of the 2012 Olympics.

It was Simon Cowell who first discovered the men’s talent and encouraged them to join together to create one cohesive group.

Simon has an undeniable skill for spotting talent, and definitely made the right decision in devoting time to the union of these 4 men.

Baritone Carlos Marín unfortunately passed away in early 2020 from Covid-related health problems.

Since then, Steven LaBrie has joined the group and is doing a tremendous job in following in Marín’s footsteps.

Not only has the group taken on a cover of this Whitney hit, they have also covered everything from Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” to Celíne Dion’s “The Power of Love”.

They have also joined some of these singers on stage, two notable accompaniments were Celíne Dion herself, as well as Toni Braxton and Barbara Streisand.

While the group’s sound and style may not be everyone’s cup of tea, you can’t help but appreciate their talent.

Each member of the group is an incredibly powerful singer in his own right, and when they all come together for harmonies they sound magical.

Though there is no soprano in the group, the higher pitch is not missed as these men’s voices meld together perfectly.

Unfortunately, the group had to cancel their 2022 tour due to pandemic restrictions, but they have recently announced plans for a 2023 tour.

The upcoming concert begins with 3 performances in Canada, then moves down to the States for 16 more shows.

There is also talk of a European tour, though no dates have yet been set.

For now though, you are still able to enjoy the beautiful music of the group through CDs, downloads, and YouTube videos.

Close your eyes, sit back, and let the music overwhelm you.

These four incredibly talented men took an already powerful song and made it their own.
