Throw some ice cubes in your dryer and make laundry day so much easier

Doing the laundry is a chore that can only be enjoyed if you make it fun. Trying out laundry hacks, using raved-about products and making it your mission to achieve the “perfect wash” are just a few methods you can use to help you enjoy your weekly laundry sessions.

One of the latest laundry hacks we’ve come across online will solve all of your ironing woes with virtually no effort on your part. It’s simple, and actually pretty effective.

You don’t need a fancy detergent that always seems to be sold out when you need it. You don’t need some complicated DIY natural-ingredient recipe.

You just need a plain ol’ tray of ice cubes.

According to this hack, you just chuck a couple of ice cubes into your washing load, and job’s a good’un. You won’t need to iron your clothes, because the ice cubes will melt and turn to steam, naturally smoothing the fabric of whatever’s in your machine.

This isn’t exactly the miracle answer to wrinkle-free clothes every time. For a start, the hack won’t work on big laundry loads or thicker items. It’s probably best to leave your jeans and your bed sheets out of this one.

But for small, mostly cotton loads, there is definitely some scope for success. While you won’t end up with completely smooth, “just-ironed” clothing, you should at least be able to benefit from clothes that are just passable, that you won’t need to get your iron out for.

Unsurprisingly, laundry isn’t up there with the top most enjoyed chores. But just as cleaning has become something of a trend recently, doing the laundry is slowly becoming more and more appealing. Some YouTubers have been sharing their “laundry routines” online, and we have to say, there’s something about learning how somebody else does the laundry that makes you want to do your own.

There are thousands of laundry hacks online today, and, of course, not all of them work. You can pretty much guarantee that any hack you come across isn’t going to be worth shouting about from the rooftops, because, let’s face it, if it was that good, we’d all know about it already.

The better hacks allow you to save money on doing your laundry by doing something very basic but fairly effective. An example of this is the alternative dryer sheets hack. We all know just how quickly a mom or dad with a family load of laundry can get through their dryer sheets, and those things get expensive, fast.

Luckily, the internet pulled through with a super-simple hack for making your own dryer sheets out of a couple of basic dollar-store ingredients: some sponges and fabric softener. You just cut the sponges in half and soak them in a mixture of half fabric softener, half water, then squeeze out one of the sponges and throw it in the dryer along with your just-washed clothes.

Other people say you can get even simpler when it comes to DIY dryer sheets. Apparently, a piece of scrunched-up kitchen foil does just as good a job at preventing clothes from taking on static. You won’t get the benefit of smell with this one, but hey, if it works, it works.
