Ikea is now selling tiny homes with absolutely no assembly required

Shopping at Ikea and spending hours assembling your furniture.

These two things go together.

However, sometimes you won’t need to open up building plans and spend hours wondering what to do, as this new Ikea product doesn’t even have to be assembled, even though it’s certainly a big one.

Tiny housing has become incredibly popular over the past few years, and Ikea decided to hop on that trend.

These smaller homes offer a ton of benefits and are useful for a lot of purposes, and are also quite easy and affordable to build. That’s why a lot of tiny homes are actually being built as a shelter for homeless people, but they’re also ideal for people who want a separate area in their backyard, for single people, or for people who like to live as ecologically friendly as possible. Whatever the purpose of a tiny home is, these incredibly versatile and cozy homes are definitely here to stay.

Tiny homes are of course, rather compact – but most of them don’t have a lot of compromises.

It’s not just because you have a (really) small structure, that you can’t do anything in your tiny home or feel absolutely cramped. They generally range in size anywhere between a hundred and three hundred square feet, and most of them are packed with some ingenious functionality to save space. The essential things you can find in a regular home, are also present in a compact and tiny house: a living room, a separate bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen are all there to enjoy.

Fun fact: even though the popularity has recently boomed thanks to the internet, the concept of living more compact actually gained the first boost all the way back in the early 1970s after the publication of the book “Walden” by Henry David Thoreau. Almost half a decade later, there are already plenty of people who proudly call one of these compact structures their home.

Ikea already did a couple of campaigns about tiny homes in the past, but this ‘no assembly’ version is definitely a gamechanger.

Usually, when people want a tiny house, you can simply get in touch with a contractor to construct one at an additional cost. You can also just grab yourself a do-it-yourself kit, truly in a traditional Ikea-style, but that might be a bit complicated if you’re not crafty. Ikea seemed to realize this too, and that’s why they came up with the tiny house on wheels.

There’s no assembly required, and it’s certainly not your traditional tiny house.

Simply because this construction is placed on wheels and requires a hitch, some people think that this isn’t a ‘real’ tiny home and is more reminiscent of a trailer, but it certainly fits all of the requirements and criteria. It’s a lot easier to transport and you can still live in one, so why shouldn’t it be labeled as one?

The design is rather minimalistic but aesthetically pleasing from the outside and the inside.

The homes themselves are relatively roomy for their size, and they’ve done their best to deliver a no-compromises living experience.

The worldwide furniture chain partnered with Vox Creative and the specialized company ESCAPE in Wisconsin.

The end result is a no-assembly tiny home of about 187 square feet, and they’re very popular.

Step inside one of these tiny homes, and you’ll immediately notice the coziness and warmth. It’s a joy to spend some time there. The large windows ensure that there’s plenty of natural light to go around.

These homes are also extremely eco-friendly.
