Impatient German shepherd can’t figure out why newborn baby won’t play fetch

For this adorably eager German shepherd dog, no one’s too young to play fetch.

A viral Tiktok video posted by @keepingupwiththekokals showed how Brody the German shepherd dog may have been a little bit too overbearing. For him, being the newest addition to the household doesn’t mean you’re too young to throw a ball.

In the video, Brody placed a soft plastic ball on the baby’s feet.

But instead of the excitement and enthusiasm that Brody was expecting, he was met with a rather oblivious reaction. His fetch partner was way too young. He can’t even hold the ball.

Brody seemed to forget that his buddy is just two-months-old.

But Brody was persistent.

He looked at the baby, quite confused why his fetch buddy “was not working”. His gaze darted back and forth impatiently at his newest best friend and the ball as if urging him to pick up the pace. Unfortunately for Brody, he’s the only one who’s up for playtime.

This may not be the first time he tried to pull this off.

Speaking from the background, you can hear Brody’s owner saying “We’ve been over this.” So, if there’s one thing we can commend Brody on, it’s that he doesn’t easily give up on his friends.

And while he’s been told about this several times before, he continued to stare longingly at the ball. Then he glances at his owner a helpless look. She just insisted that he’s too young.

Fortunately for this overly eager German shepherd, his best friend will grow big enough to play ball in the future.

Brody just needs to hang in there until his buddy gets on his feet.

In any case, the German shepherd seems to be willing to train his buddy the art of fetch no matter how long it takes.

“Right now” is just not the time for that.

You can hear his owner ask Brody “Are you waiting for him to throw the ball?” We’re not sure how long Brody needs to wait, but he may want to sit down for this one for a while. The important thing is, they’ll get to the throwing part once his little friend is ready.

The viral clip has been watched over six million times on TikTok.

Users are amused at this adorable display of frustration. And while Brody didn’t get the fetch session he deserves, his antics elicited hilarious responses from people.

One of them said “I don’t want excuses, mom. I want results.” While another commenter said “At two months I was fetching. He needs to hurry up!”

People asked in the comments to give them updates when Brody gets the reaction he’s expecting. And while it may take a while, no one’s complaining. Well, maybe except for Brody.

We hope their stare showdown becomes playtime in the future, though!

In the meantime, he just needs to have fun growing up with his best buddy and play safely whenever he’s around.
