Scared and injured stray dog leaps into the arms of strangers trying to save her

Usually, when animal rescuers go out to rescue animals, they have to deal with nervous animals that try to evade those trying to help them. Sometimes, though, stray dogs want to be rescued so bad that they jump right into the arms of their rescuers.

This was the case with rescuers from Howl of a Dog as they returned to the clinic they worked at.

As they drove, the rescuers came across a stray dog limping along the side of the road. Thinking quickly, the rescuers stopped their vehicle to try and get to the dog before he could run into the bushes on the side of the road. The dog surprised them by what he did next.

Instead of running away, the stray dog ran right toward the rescuers and practically jumped into their arms. He seemed to be desperate for aid and realized right away that the rescuers were only there to help him.

Rushing him back to the clinic, his rescuers were anxious to find out what was wrong with him. Upon having him examined, it was discovered that he had two fractures, both in his front leg. Unfortunately, the dog, who rescuers named Vlad, would need surgery to repair the fractures.

Vlad was also malnourished to the point that his ribs were showing. He was so hungry that he had tried to eat a box of tissue in the car on the way to the clinic.

So first, they fed him, then they got him ready for surgery to treat his broken leg.

The surgery was a success, with the result being metal plates and screws being put into Vlad’s leg to repair the damage. Soon, Vlad was back to full health and was able to play with his rescuers.

Finding Vlad a forever home

The next step was to get Vlad ready for adoption.

And, through the hard work of the staff at Howl of a Dog, he was soon ready to go to his forever home.

Roughly a month after his arrival, Vlad (now renamed Buddy) was on his way to his forever home in Phoenix Arizona.

The journey itself was hard as Howl of a Dog is located in Romania.

In his new home, Buddy has a pit bull/lab mix named Gemini to play with. And it was all thanks to the rescuers who took a chance and stopped to help him at the end of their day.
