Once in a while, we will come across a dog with unique features, like multi-color fur, dogs with extra tails, extra legs or ears, an out of this world bark, extraordinary eyes, and many more.

These one-of-a-kind features will make anybody stunned for a moment.

But some possess something that will make your eyes pop in a snap, for they have something that goes beyond the word “extraordinary.”

This dog with an extra-long snout might poke you out of your seat!

Meet Eris, the crazy long-snouted dog taking the internet over!

Lily and Savannah, a couple from Richmond, Virginia, adopted Eris and brought her to her forever home in July 2018.

She was still a cute puppy back then and they never thought about how long her nose would grow.

Her beloved parents also claim that their dog probably holds a world record for dog with the longest nose and, just to prove it, they wouldn’t mind a bit if the experts would come to officially measure it.

Eris is a Borzoi Wolfhound.

The American Kennel Club describes them as:

“Large, elegant sighthounds. A mature male stands at least 28 inches at the shoulder and weighs 75 to 105 pounds. Females will be smaller. Beneath the luxurious silky coat, Borzoi construction follows the ancient Greyhound template. Once known as the Russian Wolfhound, Borzoi were bred to be swift and tough enough to pursue and pin their ferocious lupine quarry.”

Additional information about them is described by DogTime.com as being:

“…developed in Russia as a coursing and hunting dog. These hounds hunted in teams of three to go after rabbit, foxes, and wolves. They later became popular as a companion for royalty across continental Europe.”

Just recently, Eris celebrated her birthday. She turned two years old on May 19th of this year. It looked like not even the pandemic could stop her from having a good time on her very special day.

Time has flown so fast and the word “growth” became much of a surprise when her nose started to grow even longer than usual.

Her snout now measures 12.2-inches (31 cm) long!

Her nose became so extraordinarily long that it has made her internet famous!

Her parents initially created her own Instagram account just to keep track of her growth and to document her everyday progress online using the social media platform.

It never crossed their minds that she would eventually become a social media star.

Her account now has a whopping 191k followers.

“We were always hoping to share some of the happiness and smiles Eris brings into our house, and in these last few months, it’s felt more impactful than ever. We’re so glad to be able to add a little tiny moment of light to all of the goodness shining through the world,” her parents shared with Bored Panda.

Eris, being a Borzoi Wolfhound, is not the only dog or breed with a long nose.

Actually, more breeds also possess such facial features just like her. Dachsund, Afghan Hound, Bloodhound, Greyhound, Whippet, Pharaoh Hound, German Shepherd, Doberman Pinscher, Airedale Terrier, Ibizan Hound, Poodle, are just a few examples, as enumerated by WomansDay.com.

A good thing to know about snouts:

“An animal’s long, protruding nose is often called a snout. The tricky part, though, is that not all long animal noses are called snouts…. Most dogs have a snout, except for pugs and boxers and other dogs with smashed-in faces.”
