This is the story of a German shepherd named Logan who found his forever home after having spent a decade chained up in terrible conditions. Despite the cruelty with which he had been treated throughout his life, he learned to trust humans again and eventually found the perfect family.

“Please give a warm welcome to the sweetest, gentlest soul out there- Logan. Logan is a ten-year-old German Shepherd who came to the Kentucky Humane Society after living the entirety of his life on a chain in terrible conditions,” the Kentucky Humane Society wrote on Facebook.

The Kentucky Humane Society found Logan living in terrible conditions.

When rescuers from the Kentucky Humane Society found Logan, they discovered he was nearly blind.

“This gentle creature was curled up in a ball, shaking and didn’t even get up when we approached. We soon discovered that Logan didn’t approach us because he simply didn’t know we were there. The poor senior dog was almost completely blind!” The Kentucky Humane Society wrote on Facebook.

When Logan was brought back to the center, one of his badly damaged eyes had to be removed. Although he still had his other eye, he only saw shadows and would frequently bump into things.

It would take someone special to give Logan the forever home he deserves.

Unfortunately, older dogs with disabilities and health conditions can be difficult to find forever homes for. Logan was a real underdog story who just needed his hero to come along and give him the life he deserves. Despite all the cruelty he had experienced throughout his life, all Logan wanted was to be near people and to give and receive affection.

“Despite the years of neglect, he wants nothing more than to cuddle up to next people and be petted. He loves his soft blankets, hot dog treats and he loves just being around us! If you’re looking for an underdog to give an amazing happily-ever-after to, Logan would love to be your family member.”

Logan finds his hero.

It takes someone special to care for a dog like Logan. Thankfully, there are animal-lovers out there who are motivated to give dogs like him all the love they should have been given from the time they were born. A woman named Holly read Logan’s story and knew she could be his hero and his family. She could give Logan all the love, warmth, pets, and belly rubs that a sweet boy like him deserves.

The Kentucky Humane Society wrote about Logan’s first meeting with Holly and her 3 other dogs.

“LOGAN HAS FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME! After reading his story online, Holly knew she had to come meet our sweet, blind senior. She has 3 resident dogs so she brought them all along with her to see how the pack would get along. We did a meet and greet with all of them and we were so proud of Logan. Nothing phases him…. or her dogs! He straight up sat on her Doberman and even that didn’t cause a scuffle. It was hilarious!”

Logan has his happily ever-after.

Now, after years of knowing only cruelty, Logan knows only love. He is part of a family, part of a pack, and gets all the pets and affection he desires.

The Kentucky Humane Society wrote of Holly’s desire to give Logan the best home possible.

“She was so kind in wanting to him to have the best home possible, she was even willing to pass on him if we felt she wasn’t the best fit. That was unnecessary though as we couldn’t imagine a better fit for our big boy! Thank you so much to Holly and thank you to every single person who shared this incredible dog’s story.”

It took someone special like Holly to be the hero Logan needed. Kind-hearted people like her are the ones who make this world a better place.
