“Janitor” sits down at station piano and draws a crowd with captivating Queen cover

A stage means everything for an artist.

It is a place where one receives the honor of being an artist.

Every artist wishes for a ‘proper’ stage to display their art, like an art gallery for a painter, a theater for a performer, or a concert for a musician.

A place where people anticipate you and your performance.

But this man challenges that belief.

He needs no stage

He transforms any place into a stage – especially where you least expect!

Yes, wherever he wishes! He performs his art in the most unusual place dressed as the most usual person. This is what people at London’s St Pancras station witnessed when a person disguised as a janitor played the most melodious tune.

People were in awe when the ivory keys hit the rhythm of the Queen classic.

Georges Sokol, popularly known as Piano Phantom, delighted people with his inspiring piano performance.

The place was teeming with people. Hard to imagine if they would stop by but then the tune kicks in!

It was a normal day in St Pancras station.

People were attending their daily commute with most being as busy as a bee. There was no chance people would pay attention, definitely not to a janitor sitting in front of a piano.

Piano Phantom, who disguised himself by wearing a janitor’s outfit (which he ordered from Amazon) was completely ready to shock people that day.

Piano Phantom when he flicked his first key, not a single passer-by paid attention. Few of Phantom’s own friends started recording the entire thing as bystanders.

It would take a stellar performance to stop the busy London crowd.

As Piano Phantom’s performance would start striking the right notes, few passersby were amused. The tune quickly modulates to one of the Queen’s classics — Bohemian Rhapsody. Plenty of people were now allured by the melodious tune.

Piano Phantom’s performance drew people of all ages.

No matter how busy some people were, they stopped for a moment to enjoy the tune. A few staff members were even perplexed by Piano Phantom’s performance.

Moments later the entire place was crowded with people forming a circle and everyone was enjoying the beautiful rendition.

Soon Piano Phantom’s performance ended (this was the saddest part) but the performance was so mesmerizing that it was followed by roaring cheer and thunderous clapping.

The performance wasn’t random, Piano Phantom has his reason.

In an interview, after his video went viral, Piano Phantom said,

“The idea was to promote the piano academy I run, but also just have some fun and do a little social experiment”

While Piano Phantom runs an academy by the name Sokol Piano Academy, the performance was more than a glorified promotion.

Piano Phantom has a very eccentric artistic philosophy and you can easily guess it by the way he describes himself and his work.

“Like a phantom, I wonder and explore places that interest me, leaving an impression but no traces”

Piano Phantom, on his website, quoted one of the famous lines of American philosopher, Henry David Thoreau:

“You must live in the present, launch yourself on every wave, find your eternity in each moment. Fools stand on their island of opportunities and look toward another land. There is no other land; there is no other life but this.”

This depicts Piano Phantom’s ideology, and the code he walks by.

Most people want to be known or to become famous – but that is something few artists desire. All they want is to inspire people and practice their craft, which is what Piano Phantom does best.
