Japanese artist creates hyperrealistic paintings that you might confuse with photos
During this pandemic, some people prefer to develop their musical and artistic abilities. Few individuals, on the other hand, are naturally gifted and have a special talent.
Kei Mieno is a Japanese artist and painter, born in Hiroshima, Japan.
He creates drawings that are meticulously detailed and realistic paintings, and could easily be mistaken for photographs.
His works are astounding and breathtaking that you would ask, “Is this really a painting?”
Take a look at some of his incredible oil painting creations!

This is wild! Kei said that:
“It took a whole year to complete this painting! About 2,000 hours. The size is 160 cm x 130cm, so the real thing is 2,000,000,000 times better than you can see in the image.”
On November 21st, 2020, this painting was on display at the Hoki Museum.

Indeed, Kei Mieno is an extraordinarily talented man.
In 2007, Kei Mieno graduated from Hiroshima City University (HCU), College of Art. He has been living as a painter and doing realism.
Mieno told Grape Japan that he wants to disassociate himself from the photorealism and hyperrealism genres.
He shared his insights saying:
“What emotions am I feeling now, how strong are they, and can they be conveyed in words? The meaning of the words you use is never exactly the same as the meaning they have within someone else’s mind. When turned into words, feelings and impressions end up being translated and transformed into something different. Such reflections are inevitable when you think about something which you truly want to convey.”
He added that:
“What I try to draw is the appearance of things exactly the way my eyes see them. There is a difference between the image captured by your eyes and then sent to your brain and the same image captured by your mind. Your emotions and perceptions alter the image’s colors and shapes. By drawing the colors, shapes, and light as they are within me, I hope to convey all that cannot be conveyed by language.”
