Thanks to John Denver, people all over the world have sung how West Virginia is almost heaven. Thanks to this singer, it’s happening again.

In 1971, John Denver released Take Me Home, Country Roads.

From that moment onwards, it became impossible to think of the State of West Virginia without humming along to the song, either out loud or in your head.

In 2020, Jonathan Antoine released a cover of the John Denver classic that’s quickly become a hit.

He recently uploaded a music video for his cover, and it has to be seen.

The video opens with an Italian neighborhood in lockdown over coronavirus. The people all sing Take Me Home Country Roads together.

The shot then cuts to a black and white shote of Jonathan Antoine walking out of his home.

In between the footage of Antoine leaving are shots of doctors working to save lives.

When Antoine opens with the lyrics, “Almost heaven,” the shot cuts to the hands of an older couple.

As Antoine continues singing, the shots cut between different images of families and individuals living in the coronavirus world.

Then the shot changes to Antoine on stage singing in front of a choir. He’s singing with a real passion.

The choir starts humming along as the shots cut back to footage of people living their lives during the pandemic.

Next, the footage cuts to backing singers in a studio and then back to Antoine’s live performance again.

Finally, the video shows a bunch of clips of people being happy and celebratory, despite the difficulties of 2020.

Antoine uploaded this video to his YouTube channel, where it soon went viral. To date, it has gained over 1.7 million views. It also has more than 35,000 likes and 2,200 comments. People have been saying things like this:

Some people may be unfamiliar with Jonathan Antoine. In the UK, he’s a pretty big star.

Like Susan Boyle, he rose to fame on the TV show Britain’s Got Talent. However, he appeared on the show in 2012, when he was just 17.

That year, Antoine and his then singing partner finished at second place on the show (that may sound odd for someone who has become so successful, but the same thing happened to Susan Boyle.)

In the eight years since his Britain’s Got Talent days, Antoine has gone on to release five studio albums.

The Take Me Home, Country Roads cover appears on his latest album, Going the Distance, which was released in April 2020. Other covers on the album include Can You Feel The Love Tonight, Unchained Melody and Moon River.

And the truly amazing thing is that Antoine is just 25 years old. In many ways, he is just starting out in his career. Who knows what he’ll go on to achieve?

Antoine’s Take Me Home Country Roads music video really shows who he is as a person. Yes, he’s highly talented. But he also uses his platform to spread a message of unity in these troubling times. And that’s a great thing!
