Josh Groban sings 'Hallelujah' in the shower and we all have chills

Josh Groban is an acclaimed singer and songwriter, most notably from his performance of “You Raise Me Up.” Winning Grammy awards, and a plethora of other accolades, few haven’t heard of him or at least his music.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, Josh Groban is doing something to keep everyone in high hopes.

To give people some hope and even some laughs, Groban has been singing songs in his actual shower. Yep, you heard it. He is standing in his shows and singing songs that people are requesting!

In a special request, Groban sings a song that we all know. More than that, he even dedicated it to the health service providers across the country and locally.

In the video, he said:

β€œβ€¦to all the brave frontline workers around the country but especially those in the epicenter at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University Irving Medical Center and around NYC.”

The praise was well merited.

People across the country working as health providers are working overtime to ensure everyone’s safety. They are putting themselves at risk to keep everyone else safe. That is some serious sacrifice, maybe even enough to merit a song from Josh!

Covering one of the most popular songs of the decade, he begins to sing “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen.

It is known as one of the greatest songs of all time. Written in the ’80s by Cohen, it never charted until covered by Jeff Buckley, who covered it from a version by John Cale. Buckley is currently known as having the most renowned version of the song.

Such a beautiful song deserves to be sung in all places, even the shower.

As his third performance, Josh is comfortable singing in the shower, much like us!

Having help, Groban is backed by Lucia Micarelli on the violin.

In such a great acoustic environment like the bathroom, the violin compliments Groban’s vocals in a beautiful and entrancing fashion.

The two begin singing and playing, reverberating the bathroom…and our hearts.

As Lucia plucks, Groban works through the many verses that are included in this version of the song. The original had a total of 80 verses!

As the song continues, the plucking is backed by gentle sweeping strokes from the violin.

About two-thirds of the way through the song, Lucia begins to do more than just pluck the violin. She has a recording of herself that she overlays to the existing track. When she starts to play the violin traditionally, it adds a richness to the entire performance.

Regardless of if you can sing well or not, supporting those on the front lines is an incredible thing to do.

Most of us aren’t Josh Groban, sadly. For those of us who aren’t, however, we can still give shootouts and support people who are sacrificing for us every day!

You can find an opportunity to support people locally!

We can all do something, and it all helps. Take a moment to thank those around you who are actively sacrificing for others – maybe even sing them a song!
