Athos was the fittest team member at his work. So he tried his hardest to get the humans to exercise.

Just imagine being in Athos’s shoes. Every day, he goes in to work with humans that could easily be mistaken for the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Some would just have accepted this fact and carried on. But Athos is no normal working dog. He took it upon himself to try and make his humans fit again.

So with the aid of The Eye of The Tiger, he encouraged his lardy colleagues to get pumping, with mixed results.

He began by pushing his body up and down. His colleague copied him. Soon, some more had joined in.

After these colleagues had been tired out, Athos went around his workplace, getting others to do pushups.

Some happily went along with the dog’s encouragement. Others just decided to sit it out.

Luckily, someone was filming Athos’s attempts to get his humans healthy.

The video then appeared on YouTube, where it soon became popular. To date, it has gained over 30,000 views. It also has hundreds of likes and dozens of comments. People have been saying things like this:

It’s easy to see why German Shepherds make good workout partners. And it’s not just because of their physical advantages.

German Shepherds are empathetic animals. They’re able to tell when a human is getting too tired and needs a break.

And there are many German Shepherd workout videos online.

But ironically, the most popular video in this genre shows a German Shepherd who refuses to work out.

The video begins with the owner performing some sit-ups. The German Shepherd sits next to her. He starts by watching her. But then he gets bored. He decides he needs some affection.

So he plonks his head onto the owner’s stomach.

The owner laughs and scratches the dog’s forehead.

Then the owner tries to get back to the sit-ups. But the dog won’t move his head from her stomach. The owner even says, “Oh my God!”

The dog lifts his head, and for a moment, it looks like the owner is going to be able to get on with the exercise. But then he stands on top of her and tries to give her another cuddle.

She tells the dog to shift once more. But the dog just comes back for more affection.

He whines and tries to push her off the ground. Anyone who has raised a toddler will recognize this behavior. The dog is on the verge of a tantrum from a lack of attention!

The video cuts out with the German Shepherd continuing to interrupt the owner’s exercise regime. So just how long did this go on for?

It looks like Athos, the dog from the first video, could spend some time with this second dog. After all, the dog should be joining in with the exercise, not trying to stop it!

These videos show that every German Shepherd is unique. Some want to exercise their humans. Others just want cuddles.
