Cops participate in viral ‘Git Up Challenge’ – but their K9 partner totally steals the show
In many police organizations across the nation, there has always been lighthearted competition between various departments and organizations. In Sutter County, California for example, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office has always had a playful rivalry with the Yuba City Police Department and other law enforcement organizations in the area, including having a dance-off to see who has the best moves.
The various organizations in Sutter County decided to take part in The Git Up Challenge.
The Git Up Challenge has become a national trend
The Git Up Challenge is a dance craze that has been sweeping the nation. Started by singer/songwriter Blanco Brown, the dance centers around his song called The Git Up. On Brown’s YouTube page, the original video has almost 45K views. Eventually, the video inspired The Git Up Challenge.
Blanco Brown’s song is an Internet sensation
The Git Up Challenge has been performed by a variety of groups and individuals ranging from seniors to teenagers to medical staff at some hospitals. In many cases, these groups film themselves performing the challenge and upload the results to YouTube. Here is the music video, from Blanco Brown, that is behind this Internet sensation.
Settling who gets a parking spot with a dance-off
In addition to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office and the Yuba City Police Department, the other organizations in Sutter County that decided to take part in the video include the Sutter County Courts and Sutter County Code Enforcement. Fortunately, the organizations captured the whole dance-off on film and posted it to YouTube where it has been viewed over 2 million times.
As a part of the video, the various organizations had to come up with a backstory. In the video, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office and the Yuba City Police Department are fighting over a parking spot. To settle the matter, those involved, as well as staff from other departments who are watching the confrontation, decide to have a dance-off to settle the matter.
Everyone in the video performs admirably, including a cute K9 officer
It is here that the video goes into overdrive. Everyone has been practicing as they all appear to have the dance moves down pat. You can also see a police K9 in the group trying to dance along as well. He must not have had much practice as he seems more surprised than anything, but the German shepherd’s attempts to dance along are adorable as he tries to keep up.
Law enforcement officials are just like everyone else
This video is a great reminder that police officers are more than just a badge and a gun. They also like to relax and kid around just like the rest of us. Their efforts might make you want to get up and dance too. Here is the video of their awesome version of The Get Up Challenge
