Gymnast delivers a spectacular Michael Jackson-themed routine earning her a "perfect 10" score

There are few sports as physically rigorous and demanding as gymnastics. Gymnastics will push your coordination, your patience, and your body to their limits.

Before you can even think of doing all those ridiculous somersaults and handstands, you should, for instance, learn how to minutes of stretching first.

Katelyn Ohashi though, makes it look easy.

The German-Japanese gymnast stands at 4’10. She’s been practicing gymnastics since she was 3. While all of us were crying at daycare and leaving crayon marks on the walls, Katelyn was already training. I know, ‘what the hell’ right?

And to remind us how good she is, she has a minute and a half performance for our viewing pleasure on Twitter. It’s less than 2 minutes long, but it does an appropriate job demonstrating just how good of a gymnast she is.

But any old gymnastics routine seems a bit…vanilla. In fact, gymnastics really benefits from music quite a bit. So Katelyn needs some exceptionally good music to go with her exceptionally good skills.

So who better than the King of Pop himself?

Even to this day, Michael Jackson’s legacy lives on as intensely as the beats of his songs. Katelyn, like many other performers, just had to do an MJ-dedicated performance at one point.

Although the first track we hear is September by Earth Wind and Fire, every next track from there on is MJ all around.

“September” only plays for all of 5-7 seconds, which may not seem like long, but it’s long enough for Katelyn to do a tremendous set of front flips and splits to the beat of the song.

In the same time it would take you to reach over to your phone from the shower and change the song, Katelyn would have already done a full set of front flips to the beat.

Think about that for a second.

“I Want You Back” is up next, and Katelyn is already feeling the rhythm. The crowd’s already pumped up, and she’s just getting started. It’s not just a pretty face that makes Katelyn stand out in the crowd, clearly.

People have been commenting that they’ve come back to Katelyn’s video to reminisce about pre-pandemic life, and how different and fun it was.

It’s rather poetically ironic then, that one of the other tracks used is “Do You Remember The Time”.

Katelyn busts out a whole new set of moves for this one. From a groovy spin, to a sassy, spinning hair flip and a quick boogeying tip toe.

All while showing off some inhuman agility and balance while she throws herself into the air like he weighs nothing. Plus, this ain’t Michael Jackson without some moonwalking. Who cares if you’re barefoot?

This girl is feeling it!

And speaking of feelings, that should give you your hint on what the next song is. “The Way You Make Me Feel” is one of Michael Jackson’s grooviest songs (and nearly all of his songs are groovy, so that’s saying something!).

The way this song makes her feel is pretty obvious if you just watch. Something about MJ’s music just grabs a hold of your ears and doesn’t let go.

Arguably, it’s pointless to resist grooving along.

But Katelyn doesn’t settle for just grooving along. She’s here to show the crowd how it’s done, and flies through the air as effortlessly as MJ can dance.

And as a finale, she lands a perfect split, just before flipping her hair and looking at the crowd while MJ screams his iconic “Aow!”.

Ladies and gentlemen, I think it’s safe to say that Katelyn has blown us away.

With 137 million views, Katelyn got the recognition she much-deserved. But even without the YouTube fame and views, she’s still an accomplished championship gymnast. All that is thanks to her rigorous, and probably unforgiving, practice and dedication to her craft.

It’d be a shame to miss out on Katelyn’s unbelievable skill. Good thing the video is down below for you to watch in full. Why not spread the positivity and share the article as well? All it takes is a click of a button!
