Keith Urban hears family’s spin on Lady Gaga hit song and he can’t turn his chair fast enough

If we tell you that there’s a country version of a Lady Gaga song, would you believe it?

The hit TV reality series The Voice has launched undiscovered artists into fame.

But in one of its spin-offs, the TV franchise looked for not just a star, but a family of stars.

They found one.

It truly emphasizes the words “it runs in the family,” especially when the judges were surprised by the littlest contestant they’d ever seen.

The O’Donnells took the stage.

When they did, no one expected what they’d pull out from their strings.

As they entered, audience members cheered and swooned when a little girl walked into the stage.

The judges were, of course, intrigued by their reaction.

One of the judges even thought that there was a puppy on the stage as it can be the only thing that can elicit those “aww’s” from the audience.

Guy Sebastian said he’d be “livid” if the contestant turned out to be adorable and talented since his roster was already full.

Well, he filled it too soon.

When the family began to sing Lady Gaga’s hit song “Edge of Glory,” the judges were electrified. They knew it was a rendition far off from the original.

With the careful strumming of the guitar and the harmony the song had, the judges turned to country singer Keith Urban as the bluegrass version of the song was right up his alley.

Then, Urban turned to face them.

He watched in awe as the two kids sang their part and the grandparents skillfully plucked on their string instruments.

He said that their creativity with Lady Gaga’s song was sure to get any judges’ attention.

The genre was just too far off on different sides of the musical spectrum but the family made it work.

The O’Donnells was started by John and Wendy when the two met in the United States.

The couple then settled down in Cairns, Australia. Music was a big part of their life. They performed with different bluegrass bands in the 90s.

When the rest of their usual crew was unavailable, the couple asked their kids if they wanted to play instead. Fortunately, the musical gene is strong in the family.

The kids saved the show.

In 2010, the family released their self-titled album.

The album features a variety of original and classic bluegrass, country, and gospel music.

They even became one of the finalists at the Queensland Country Music Awards for Recording Artists in 2011.

They joined the Voice Generations in 2022 where Urban welcomed them into his team.

He also got Amy on his roster, the 3-year-old contestant, who was the youngest contestant to ever join the competition.

She got all the “awwww’s”.

“This family was absolutely astounding! Beautiful people, stunning vocals, amazing harmonies, ridiculously good instrument playing and of course the absolute cuteness factor of the youngsters helps as well! And to top it off, they have the perfect coach!” said one comment.

“Possibly the luckiest grandparents alive and I’m sure they know it!” said another.
