Amazing kid drummer goes on Ellen to play Lenny Kravitz cover – then Kravitz comes out

The drums might look like an easy instrument to play, but they’re actually incredibly hard to master.

In fact, it’s often said that musicians need years of intensive training before they can even begin to be considered a ‘world-class’ drummer.

Practice makes perfect definitely applies here, even though it can take years.

However, every once in awhile there’s a prodigy out there who seems to get an amazing grasp of an instrument – and they do it much quicker than most others.

Justin Wilson II (5-years-old) is definitely one of those people.

Lenny Kravitz is one of his most favorite artists and a huge inspiration.

In fact, when he was just four years old, he already knew how to play his classic song “Fly Away” on the drums. Definitely not an easy one, but this talented little musician absolutely rocked it.

After posting some videos on social media, Justin Wilson II caught the eye of Ellen Degeneres and was invited to her show.

She asked him to perform in front of the live audience and blow them away – and that’s exactly what this little kid did.

But before he takes his rightful place at the drums, the kid definitely wanted to chat a bit with Ellen first.

Right away, you can just tell that this boy is just full of energy and definitely isn’t shy of the stage, the audience – or the millions of viewers watching at home. He’s full of laughter and jokes, and everyone just loves him.

Of course, Ellen had one more important question to ask him: what song he was going to play for them.

Justin chose another Lenny Kravitz classic and hit, “Are You Gonna Go My Way”.

Not exactly an easy song either – but we’re pretty sure that Justin doesn’t back down from a challenge. The background music starts, and Justin starts drumming away.

It’s basically second nature for the boy at this point, he doesn’t even have to look at the drums in order to play. It’s all trained muscle memory and he isn’t even nervous in the slightest – Justin just really loves to play and it most definitely shows.

The performance was absolutely great – but Ellen had a surprise in store of her own.

None other than Mr. Lenny Kravitz himself appears on the stage and the audience can’t believe it.

Funnily enough, Justin actually didn’t notice his idol at first, and simply kept on playing.

However, when Kravitz enters his field of view, you can see Justin’s jaw drop in an amazing and shocked reaction.

The expression on his face truly says it all! Luckily, Justin never stopped playing the drums even when he was starstruck and flabbergasted – but he couldn’t deny the opportunity to give Kravitz a high five.

After the performance, Kravitz then picked him up and it’s just all smiles and laughter – this boy got to meet his hero and was able to show off his drumming skills to him and the rest of the world.

When they talked, Kravitz actually revealed that he had been following Justin on YouTube for a while and is a big fan.

Of course, there’s also a little tradition in the Ellen Show where invited kids (and adults alike) get a little bit of merch before they head back home.

Since Justin is also a huge fan of Spiderman, he received a bunch of items that were themed in his favorite superhero. What an amazing day for little Justin!
