Why babies should always grow up with a dog
Humans domesticated cows 10,500 years ago, women domesticated men 5,000 years ago, and most importantly humans met their best friends, dogs, 15,000 years ago. Dogās truly are manās oldest friend. There is something unique about our four-legged companions that creates a soft spot for them in all our hearts. We have them as companions, partners in work, and more.
Dogs and babies make an unbeatable partnership of cuteness.
One of the greatest benefits of having a dog, however, is watching them interact with babies! Has there ever been a better duo than babies and dogs? I donāt think so.
With dogs and babies creating a cuteness overload, there are definitely some real advantages to having a canine around your little one.
Entertainment is always available. Dogs and babies have something in common. No matter how much you play, they always are ready for more. Whether itās playing fetch with your baby or peekaboo with your dog (did I mess that up?), laughter and tail wagging is sure to ensue.
Watching a dog and a kid play will always bring joy to your heart!
Many dogs make excellent playmates for babies. My childhood dog, Snickers, always knew how to handle a baby. Snickers and I could rough around and play but when it came to a newborn in the house, he was a different creature.
Dogās may how to handle babies even though they donāt fully know what they are! They treat them much more gently and with care, only occasionally making mistakes by bopping a baby head with their tail! Wag! Says that they might identify them through their intuition and smell, taking their cues from the parents on how to handle them.
Did somebody say nap-time?
A Sunday nap is one of the greatest gifts we have been given as humans. What makes a nap better? A doggy friend of course! A dog is always ready to settle down and turn the cuddles up. Whether you need some extra warmth on a cold day or a living pillow, your dog is always willing!
A friend who is always excited to see you.
Whether it’s pressing a nose against a house window or sitting outside waiting for a bus to arrive, dogs are always excited to see their friends. There is something special about coming home after a rough day at school or work and being greeted by a wet-nosed buddy who is there for comfort.
When things get hard, a dog is always ready to comfort you.
One of the saddest and cutest scenes in the movie, āMarley and Meā is when Marley (the dog) knows that something went wrong and is there while his owners cry on him. Whether its babies or adults, dogs are ready to comfort you when you need to hug something or cry. They even seem to have some special doggy intuition when it comes to emotions! My dog always knows when I am having a bad day and puts his head in my lap!
Without a doubt, growing up with a dog can be one of the most fun and cutest experiences of a lifetime.
