Customer notices server's bad teeth – asks to talk to manager then offers to pay for dental work

Brian Maixner worked as a server at a restaurant called Doo-Dah Diner. The owner, Timirie Shibley, found that “doo-dah” is a term used for the city’s laidback and playful residents.

Hence the name, and since the diner was all about good vibes, it was a great place with customers even buying food for others.

Brian was one of those responsible for the cheerful atmosphere, as he served customers with a smile.

He always had stories to tell, but deep down, he also had troubles.

He always suffered from dental issues even as a child. He never could afford treatments so over the last half-dozen years, Brian had several missing teeth and painful infections.

Brian tried saving up money for dental insurance, but never could get to the amount needed.

It was in 2015 when an attorney from Oklahoma named Fred Boettcher went into the diner and asked to speak with Timirie.

Fred said that Brian was a great server, but he did notice problems with his teeth. Timirie’s heart sank as she always knew this day would come.

But Fred wasn’t there to complain.

Fred too suffered from dental problems so he asked Timirie if he could help Brian with a full dental makeover. The attorney says he wanted to share his good fortunes with others.

Timirie quickly agreed, going to Brian with the news.

“I am a guy, and I am not scared to admit it, I cried a little bit,” Brian recalled.

After the dental work, Brian began greeting customers at Doo-Dah with a lovely smile. And to think he had to heal for eight months before coming back to Ponca City, Oklahoma, for his permanent dental implants.

Those may be temporary fixtures, but Brian is already loving his smile.

His friends loved his transformation!

Fred spent around $25,000 for the dental treatment.

“No matter what religion you might be or whether you even believe in an afterlife, the way to be satisfied in your life is to be kind to everybody and be as generous as you possibly can be,” the generous donor told KWCH.

Brian’s story went viral, and Timirie noticed that people shared the same sentiments with the common denominator being how an act of kindness can change a life.

She says that the story has restored people’s faith in mankind. It’s a refreshing story, away from all the negativity commonly seen from mainstream media.

And for Brian and Timirie, they’re hoping people will learn to be kind to others all the time.

And it doesn’t even have to be a $25,000 dental makeover. Start by opening the door for somebody, carrying their groceries, or just watch out for others and see who needs help.

Brian says be kind all the time, since he’s doing the same thing.

Fred passed away on June 9, 2019, but his selfless act, and going out of his way to help someone, left an impact that will remain forever in Brian’s smile and in the hearts of others.
