Stray Calico kitten shows up shivering outside of fire station begging for help

Firefighters at the Steinbach Fire Department in central Canada met an unexpected visitor.

It was a snowy evening.

So no one expected to find a visitor waiting for them at their front door.

They saw a cold, scared kitten peeking through their workstation window, her eyes full of desperation.

Knowing the severity of the situation, the on-duty firefighters wasted no time and opened the door to let the kitten in.

The cat was freezing.

She was asking for their help.

“I was walking and noticed her at the window. A member of the department went outside, and she came right to them,” said Kelvin Toews, SFD’s fire chief.

The kitten was obviously weak from loitering around since it didn’t have any home, food, or shelter for the cold weather.

They invited the poor kitten inside.

In no time, they saw how much the cat settled in. She immediately felt the warmth of the place.

Though the firefighters saw how dirty she was, she was also starving.

They gave her a warm bath and food.

They saw how grateful she was.

It was written in the cat’s eyes.

All the staff fell in love with the cute kitten, but they knew the fire station wasn’t the best home for a kitten.

They all decided to find the kitten her forever home, but in the meantime, she will go with Toews and will live there.

Toews volunteered to take her.

This made sense since she already had four cats at home.

Everyone fell in love with the adorable calico kitten, and they named her Ember.

The next day, they visited the vet, and they were all happy when they found out that she was in good condition.

She only suffered small frostbite at the ends of her ears.

They created a Facebook post about Ember, wondering if she already had owners and if they were looking for her.

No one came forward.

They then gave her vaccinations and the vet also treated her ear mites.

Ember’s personality blossomed.

Everyone loved how she slowly opened up to them. She enjoyed cuddles, pets, and well, all the attention given to her.

Of course, everyone wanted Ember to stay, but they also knew it wasn’t the best place to raise a kitten.

The fire department wanted the best for their little Ember.

They posted a photo of Ember.

The post said she was ready to find her forever home.

“Steinbach does not have a full-time fire department, so the station is not continuously staffed,” the kind firefighters shared. “Unfortunately, the station can go days without someone being there.”

To get ready, she got spayed, had warm baths, and was taken care of by someone who fosters cats.

She was ready for a home.

The fire department updated their followers that finally, Ember had found her forever home.

“She’s found a nice spot to call her own and has really made this home. I cannot believe how well-behaved she is – exactly what we’ve been looking for,” shared her new family.
