When Koda the ginger kitten first came into Trisha de la Paz’s home, he was barely a month old. Luckily, Keelo was there to protect him as he grew up.

It all started when Trisha de la Paz heard about a tiny stray ginger kitten that needed a home. She knew she had to do something and knew that her golden retriever, Keelo, was a friendly creature who would welcome him. But would Koda the kitten accept Keelo’s help?

Trisha went to the shelter to pick Koda up and couldn’t believe just how tiny he was. In fact, he could fit into the palm of Trisha’s hand.

So Trisha brought the tiny kitten home, hoping she would get along with Keelo. As soon as Trisha opened the door, holding a box with Koda inside, Keelo bounded up to greet them.

As expected, the dog was keen to make friends with the tiny animal. But what touched Trisha’s heart was the fact that Koda wanted to play with Keelo.

Trisha took the kitten out of the box, and the kitten walked up to the dog. The two said hi and started playing. Koda was a little nervous, but that would soon change.

From that first moment, Keelo and Koda were inseparable. They always wanted to be together. In fact, Keelo was actively excited to get back after a walk just to meet up with his best friend.

As the weeks passed, Koda became ever more active. At first, the kitten just wanted to snuggle with Keelo. But then Koda started playing with Keelo. Keelo was something of a low energy dog, but still, he liked having Koda around, even if he could be annoying.

When Koda grew up a little more, he calmed down. The two would synchronize their schedules, eating and drinking with one another and even cleaning themselves at the same time.

Trisha loved seeing the two best friends hanging out all the time. But by far the best thing was when Keelo would kiss Koda.

And pretty soon, the family got bigger. Eight months after Koda arrived, there was another kitten in the home.

His name was Drogon. Luckily, the new kitten was keen to become friends with Koda and Keelo.

Then, about a year after Drogon came to live with Trisha, Keelo and Koda, the owner found another stray wondering the streets. She took this kitten home and named her Snow, for obvious reasons:

A couple months after that, Trisha found another kitten near a place that sold pasta makers. She took this kitten home and named her Pasta.

But in no time at all, Pasta would surprise Trisha. She became pregnant at just six months of age. Soon, the home was filled with kittens. Trisha named the kittens Ravioli, Macaroni, Orzo and Gnocchi.

Sadly, something tragic then happened. Keelo underwent an operation, which went wrong. She died shortly afterward.

Trisha, Koda and all of the cats in the home were devastated at losing their family member. However, the fact is that for two years, Keelo was able to help some animals find joy and happiness. Clearly, he also had an amazing time while doing this.

The home feels very different without Keelo, but they all continue to love one another, as Keelo would have wanted them to.
