Cindy Congdon is an avid foster mom, who provides a safe home to little kittens until they are ready to be adopted. She fosters for the Seattle Humane Society and is currently fostering four cats.

A few weeks ago, Jackson – Jack for short – and his family entered Cindy’s home. The babies were only a week old and their mom was happy to finally have a safe place where she could take care of her kittens.

Jack and his two siblings are super cute and love napping, snuggling and cuddling, while they are trying to figure out the whole cat thing. Or did you think that all cats are born knowing exactly what to do and how to behave in a cat-like manner? Well, it takes time and practice!

For instance, kittens have no idea how to groom themselves. That’s right! In fact, grooming is something kittens learn from their mothers. Before a kitten starts grooming itself at about four weeks old, its mom grooms it.

Grooming serves multiple purposes, from cleaning to a suckling stimulus to simply comforting it. But, as they grow up, they keep grooming themselves for cleaning purposes, while it also removes parasites and it lubricates their coats.

And that’s how they learn how to do it. And last week, Jack tried to groom himself for the first time, while his foster mom was holding him. It was the cutest thing- Congdon posted the clip on Instagram and wrote a cute post about it, making sure it is heartwarming enough to urge viewers to foster a kitty.

“As the weather warms up, lots of kittens like Jack here will need someone to hold them while they eat their feet and show off their belly button,” wrote Cindy on her post.

Then, she went on inviting everyone to go to their local animal shelters and volunteer in their foster programs.

“Because you deserve to tickle kitten bellies, and kittens aren’t going to hold themselves, you know,” she concluded.

People loved the clip and the post and they soon started commenting about their fostering experiences.

“I’ve been fostering for almost a year, partly because of you. I can honestly say it’s the most rewarding experience of my life,” a user wrote, while someone else commented: “I love fostering! Don’t worry about it being too hard to give them away- when you meet the right family, it brings joy in its own special way!”

Jack, his siblings, and their mother have occupied Cindy’s home but she doesn’t bother the least bit. She enjoys it a lot and constantly uploads photos and videos of them on her Instagram page. In one of her posts, she even wrote that she used a white and gray blanket to resemble their dad and trick them into more cuddles! Now, how cute is that!

We’re glad the kittens found such a loving home, and we’re sure that they’ll soon find adoptive families to live their happily ever after with!
