Bandits and thugs in Fort Smith in Arkansas, beware, because there’s a new police officer in town and it might even be the most adorable law officer in the entire world. Meet the kitten known as ‘Pawfficer Fuzz’, who was taken in by the Fort Smith police officers a while ago and is now a member of the local police family.

Officers found the furry little four-footer tied up with a rope around his tail in dire conditions, but the kitten was doing much better once he was taken in by the police officers.

Of course, all of them were more than welcoming of the feline, and they couldn’t help but give him some tender loving care and plenty of attention and affection. They also named him ‘Pawfficer Fuzz’, and we’re pretty sure that they couldn’t have come up with something more genius.

The word about this adorable cat in the police department quickly spread, and it didn’t take long before the mayor heard about this recent furry development as well.

Luckily for the adorable cat, the mayor absolutely loved the idea of having a feline police officer in the department.

In fact, Pawfficer Fuzz even got sworn in an adorable ceremony given by the mayor himself.

“If he’s going to be an officer, he needs to be sworn in to make him official,” Mayor of Fort Smith, George McGill said. “I think the idea of having a mascot is kind of cool. He’s going to get a lot of attention.”

Locals were invited to the ceremony, and it was even live-streamed online for everyone to see.

“We’ve got a unique officer that is going to be representing the city of Fort Smith, and we are very excited he is going to represent all the animals in the city,” the mayor said during the ceremony. “We are a caring city, and he’s going to represent those pets and those that are needing homes.”

The cat’s job description is pretty straightforward: Pawfficer Fuzz will accompany his human colleagues during community relations, educational and crime prevention events. Recently, Fuzz visited preschoolers at Cook Elementary School teaching children about safety during the Halloween period and in general. It was an absolutely adorable sight and the other police officers couldn’t have done it without him!

“Welcome to the police force Pawfficer Fuzz. We’re expecting great things out of you,” he added. “If you do a good job, we may get some friends to join you in some auxiliary unit, but you will be running that unit, OK?”

According to city officials, Officer Fuzz actually has a lot of responsibilities on the force.

“As a sworn pawfficer, he can now carry a gun, make arrests and enforce violations of the law. Fuzz can also get rid of traffic tickets by shredding them up,” City Administrator Carl Geffken told with a smile.

The police department hopes that Pawfficer Fuzz can bring them closer to the community. One thing is for sure: everybody absolutely adores him!

In fact, he’s pretty much a known icon and local celebrity in the city, and a trusted and valued member of the police department.
